Yamaha and Tech 3 to Part Ways at end of 2018 Season

I mean, I get it. Some of you REALLY want Yamaha and VR46 to get shafted. But here is the reality. Herve wouldn’t opt out of a Yamaha satellite deal unless there were amicable clauses. All major manufacturers are required to provide machinery to at least one satellite team and no existing team is currently open to receiving the bikes Yamaha is contractually bound to provide. Hence, VR46.

Once again, money talks in the paddock. Emotions talk on a forum. Herve gets a better deal and a boatload of orange tinted Euros. He is happy and the mid term future of his team is secured. No way in hell he will try to be a showstopper for VR46 to enter MotoGP eventually.

Go ahead and tell me I am wrong, I’ll come back and quote you when it happens.

Your probably right there. Junior VR46 team next year? Still doesn't change the fact that all teams and Dorna are bound by the clause limiting number of team and rider entries.

This is going to be a big deal this year. I for cannot see team VR46 not participating next year.
 
It probably won’t happen next year, it’s too little a timeframe for them to sort out logistics and sponsorship deals and all that. But a year or two later? Very possible.

Never say never. Carmelo is calm. Writing the check as we speak. Team VR is worth what you reckon in t shirt sales alone? More than enough.
 
Sponsorship won't be a problem. Heck Vale could probably afford it as an entire standalone sponsor. Though he is much too business savvy to go alone.

Logistics the same. Not an issue.

I bet Vr46's - (the team) legal beagles are working on it as we type.

Valentino knows his time is up soon, and again as fate has mostly been for him, everything seems to just fall in place.

I for one and happy to see him giving back to our sport in the way that he has been doing.

Giving back to the sport is one of the things I admire him for.
If you read the story of Morbidelli, you will understand that he had a snowball’s chance in hell to compete in the world arena if it wasn’t for VR46 (the man and the academy). And now he is in the premiere class. That’s an amazing thing to witness.
 
2021 it'll happen, I'm sure of it but once the agreement is up and not before then. It's almost guaranteed Rossi will have a MotoGP team of his own that's when the agreement is up and a new one will be made and with 2020 likely being Rossi's last year racing it will all line up vey well.

With Ducati reportedly building a bike for the moto3 class, KTM and Honda already competing there, I hope if Yamaha will return to the moto3 class and have the VR46 team as their factory team there.

I second this. I would love to see Yamaha back in the junior class.
 
Sooooo I'm thinking, assuming that tech3 is going to KTM of course.

Pol to stay in the factory team, Zarco to red bull, Oliveira to tech3 with factory support and Syahrin to get another year if he has a decent showing.

Latest hot rumor is Honda will take Zarco and let Dani go.

Makes a lot of sense as, no matter what we say we often whinge about Rossi having held his seat for so long and yet in later years producing little in terms of wins or titles, but he still has titles, power and fans.

Pedrosa has ................. ?

That is not to disparage Pedrosa but he is not going to win a title soon and is well past the useful data with HRC as they need to look at a successor to MM 'just in case' as they say. Pedrosa is not that successor and if HRC are smart, they snaffle Zarco and lock him up to take him from the market and thus remove one challenger.

Suzuki may be considered a major manufacturer and are not required to supply a satellite bike
Pointing out that Carmelo is full of .... is not hoping Rossi gets shafted.
Herve made his conversation with Yamaha public which in turn made every manufacturer take note that he was available and he pounced on an opportunity that came 3 years earlier than Yamaha expected.
I guess Carmelo could pay everyone off to allow Rossi in or Rossi could simply buy a team if someone is willing to sell but I think you are wrong if you don't think Herve or one of his fellow owners would block the Rossi circus from devaluing how they make a living. If Herve is set up to where he never has to go door to door begging for sponsorship good for him,but it's still the same struggle the other 5 will have till the end of time. I'm guessing with the money a Rossi sponsored team will have,someone will cash in big time and sell him a team. Or, it is much ado about nothing and Rossi will face 2 more years.On that subject, Rumor has it Yamaha is pushing Rossi to make a decision because Honda is getting ready to swoop in and steal Zarco. Yamaha is also pushing a one year deal to Rossi and may even be willing to have Zarco on a factory contract for 2019 as he is not willing to wait for Rossi to fulfill a two year contract. This has been a good silly season

No way will Rossi not have a team eventually, and I expect him to be good at running one as long as he doesn't delegate to Uccio excessively. I have actually wondered about him eventually running the factory team as his predecessors Agostini and Roberts did.

My beef with him is that his prolonged, and imo likely to be ultimately pointless, swan song and his manipulations during it are warping the whole sport and affecting the careers of other riders. I won't shed too many tears about Yamaha being down for a few years per se if that is what transpires, I am a default Ducati fan and otherwise a fan of individual riders, but it is not good for the sport imo if Honda have even more competitive advantages than they usually do.

You are wrong.

You are suggesting its Herve who wanted it. You, like many before you, are not coping with the fact that your idol receives preferential treatment to the detriment of others. So you attempt to de-villanize rossi by playing down negative effects he has on the sport.:rolleyes:

It has indeed been a good silly season and it will only get better in the next few months.

Disagree that Suzuki can be considered a major manufacturer. They lucked (as a matter of speaking) into losing their concessions and they just got them back. They are not ready for prime time yet.

KTM will offer satellite bikes because they are the honey badger of motorcycle racing. And they have said many times beating Honda is their number 1 goal.

Anyway, any rumor that places Zarco and Marquez on equal machinery gets me excited. As I said before, the front row starts would be INSANE.

I think Pol will be gone as will his brother, there are a lot better riders coming through than them.
 
Aleix gets a really bad rap. I think he’s a better rider than most think he is. He has always made the most out of sub par machinery.

Allround nice fella too.

Pol, I am not that high on, but he has outperformed his teammate comprehensively, which accounts for something. No chance in hell he will keep his seat if Zarco and Olivera are on KTM’s shortlist though.

Sure the rider in question is not mentioned as a superstar of the Marquez/Zarco type, but many judges do rate highly and he may well be a cheaper option if, and I mean if KTM can get a star.

Of course, if this rider excels this year than he may well end up with a factory contract ........

It’s obvious enough how this will play out. Carmelo will simply put it to a vote. The first result will be a unanimous no to team VR getting extra slots on the grid. Then uncle Ezzy will wave some $$$ cash in their faces at which point the independent teams will suddenly have a change of heart and welcome VR to their collective bosom. Sure it will be good for the sport, possibly for all the wrong reasons but the majority of viewers aren’t going to worry about such minor moto matters.
