WSBK Silverstone

Found it. Would have never guessed it in a 100 years.

I'll give another clue to anyone who is might try to guess at it later. The rider in question was on a Yamaha at Mosport in 1991 as a wildcard where he split wins with Pascal Picotte.

I think that WSBK uses a different track course than the MOTOGP's. Can anyone confirm this?

So glad to see Hopper take pole. If he can secure a win that would do miles for his confidence heading into BRNO. I saw Crutchlow giving him props but also asking him to slow it down before Brno lol. Laverty is a surprise up there and Biaggi is the surprise of the back. Checa and Melandri have a good opportunity to put some points on Biaggi this weekend.

I think the races are going to be awesome!!

Hopefully Hopper can win at least 1 of the 2 superbike races.

Would be a great story.

Checa extremely calm and cool. Great riding.

Shame Hopper didn't get a podium after pole.

Great to see Davies win in supersport. Hopefully he'll move up to superbike next year.

I think Sam Lowes might be the outright fastest 600 rider at the moment, but he is a bit all over the place as today showed.

(for the Americans on here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VJrjCnRNmAw&feature=feedu Josh Day won the superstock 600 race)

Hopper was top Suzuki in both races, but he was unable to cope with the tires as they went off. Race 2 was a particularly steep decline.

A bit disappointed, but the results were probably in line with reality. Hopper beat Fabrizio in both races. Fabrizio's best result was a podium at Monza during race 2 when both Camier and Haslam crashed out, Biaggi was given a ride through, and Checa wasn't competitive on the Duc. Not taking anything away from the achievement, just sayin' the Zook hasn't showed more than 5th-6th place pace all season.

Nightmare weekend for Biaggi and Aprilia. Disappointing b/c Checa has pulled a 62 pt lead so he has basically got the championship in the bag. Disappointment for Melandri as well. Despite 11th and 4th place finishes from Biaggi, Melandri was not able to overtake Biaggi for second place. The emperor doesn't give many chances.

Overall, my impressions of this round and of the season are that the Ducati 1200cc experiment has been a failure. In 2008 it was too fast and their was a legend in the saddle. In 2009 it was about perfect. In 2010, it was a dog. In 2011, the bike enjoys a sizable advantage again. I don't know what Ducati have in store for the new Superquadrata (or whatever it is called) but the R version better not be 1200cc. Performance indexing ain't working out for anyone.

I kept hearing that Day was a really good rider, but I never really paid much attention to the rumors. Nice to see that he has found some success on the world scene. Hopefully, he will get some love from the Europeans b/c God knows the American distributors can't do anything to help him.

Exactly why i think Eslick, Herrin, Solis etc: should do anything in there power to get out of the American racing scene. They may have to race for little money for a few years, but that may be the only way to keep from rotting in a series that no one is paying attention to

so, the inert ingredient.. the bikes? or the riders?
<
because i think we all know where john would be on a suzuki.. now on a honda and a month or two? hmm.. lol anyway good to see him doing well.. as well as eugene.. anyone think hopper will be back in sbk next year? for sure he had really bad luck for the last few

It'll be either World Superbike or MotoGP. From what I gather, he's in discussion with a GP team who he believes can offer him a competitive package. There are also rumors that Crescent could move up to World Superbike and replace Alstare as the factory-backed Suzuki squad, which would be a seamless transition for Hopkins. I think there's still a lot of interest in him in World Superbike, but I get the impression his priority is MotoGP but he isn't ruling out World Superbikes.

Interesting. Yamaha have just announced they are withdrawing their official WSBK team at the end of the season.
