WSBK Imola

Thats obviously a load of rubbish.

But i agree Cal is right to take this chance. It might not work out but its worth a shot.

so the bike is just like Spies's 09 bike then?? The hp bump might be a stretch, but I bet they pulled more power out of that bike as Lex said so I don't think it is complete rubbish that Crutchlow's R1 was upgraded.....therefore having faster times over Spies (only racing in that series/racing those tracks one time).

Tom, Factory, the wsbk R1 IS upgraded, and so has the rest of the field. Im laughing at Toms comparison to Spies. Ben basically ran the field, Cal...NOT so much.

No i do agree that the R1 was upgraded, and like i have said Cal's comparison to Ben Spies should be taken with a pinch of salt considering the source. The point is the two riders are in the same ballpark, even if not quite at the same level. The reason i accused your quote as a load of rubbish was because you insinuated that a 15bhp gain was to Spies' credit, when he is clearly not an engineer or engine technician.

I wouldn't say he ran the field at all, it was a pretty close fought thing all year and Ben trailed into the final round if i'm not mistaken

It did, and in the end, thats all that matters.

On the other hand, the title race should not have been close. Spies dominated the season. His bad luck was a windfall for WSBK. The title race could very well have been on of the most boring ever, and decided with 4 races [2 events] to go. I am glad it played out the way it did, but it would have been a damn shame if he had not won it. Spies pushed Haga WAAAY out of his comfort zone, and he damn near killed himself trying to stay there

Congrats to Max! Not to get all touchy-feely but I have to say, I was taken by

Max's interview after the race. He seemed like a little kid having the best

Christmas morning ever. Very unguarded and genuine. A much more appealing

Biaggi than the one we saw in his GP days. Seems like fatherhood is mellowing

him out.

Looking forward to seeing Rocket Ron's son on the Beemer next year. Could be

just what the doctor ordered.

Well actually, no you didn't quote me, but yeah, I get your point. As far as not running the field, uhm, I disagree. The points simply did not represent his domination--which is what I mean by running the field.

On another note, I just saw supersport last night (Yeah, we get them on Tuesday following the event). Holy ....! That was a good race. To bad Gio Rea went down so early, I was hoping to see a scrap with him in the mix. Dude rides spectacular. Sofagolu and Laverty had a great entire race scrap. Wow, what a finish!

Max has been unfairly villainized. I never fell for it.

I contend Haslam is the best Brit motorcycle racer.

Speaking of BMW. I've always like Ruben Xaus. Infact, I just finished putting up a wallpaper of him on my home desktop screen, unfortunately my computer crashed.

I've always thought Xaus was a class act. He's had some bad luck - but

I've always rooted for him.

I confess - my knowledge of Biaggi may be just shallow impressions.

Maybe it's the skeevy goatee.
