“Sorry Jumkie, while I do give Nicky his due respect there is a big difference between Nicky Hayden and Valentino Rossi. “
Yes of course. Just as much that there is a difference between all the riders on the grid. But the assumption/suggestion here is that Hayden may be one of the worst title defenders. Yet the season hasn’t even started. Please, enough with the winning history of Rossi. It’s not the point of debate here. The point is what is to be (future). And as far as I’m concerned, the assumption that he will be a terrible defender is already putting the cart before the horse.
“ For everyones edification Yamaha had a horrible chatter problem at the beginning of the season and did not clear it up untilafter the halfway point. Consequently Rossi was forced to ride on and even over the edge which is why his season was so out of character. Yamaha got it wrong, plain and simple, there was no laziness or complacency from Rossi. To put thing in perspective Rossi had a crap-handling bike, was submarined by another rider and the bike suffered from reliability issues. And he still came within a whisker of winning the championship.”
Interesting. For a moment there I thought you were talking about Hayden. The argument that Hayden was the #2 rider with crappy performing parts that were not addressed in a timely manner doesn’t seem to have credence. Yet you tell me about all the problems that Rossi’s machinery had? How about, they both had problems that they had to overcome. Hayden came out on top.
“Nicky, on the otherhand was on the best bike with the best team in all of two wheeled racing, had no reliability issues, he did suffer a submarine attack from his own teamate, and he only won because the other guy crashed.”
Yamaha is not all that shabby as you try and make it out. Don’t forget, its vertually the same team he won preciously with.
“Let us ask ourselves this question. Who would you bet on if Rossi and Hayden were on equal machinery? Honest answers only please.”
My money is on Hayden. My money was on Hayden before Portugal; and more importantly, my money was on Hayden after Portugal. Why can’t you guys understand that? Who would have thought that Rossi would have dumped his bike with nobody else to blame? Who? It was exceedingly unlikely. But history shows that it happened. So to come on and start a thread about the worst possible defense of a title is “obviously” more a weak attempt at a statement rather than a genuine inquiry.

<{POST_SNAPBACK}><div class='quotemain'>Yeah thats totally fair, i just didn't notice, even after he called me on it. i guess i assume that we all know the obvious uncertainties of the sport, and when we sound that sure of somethinf we are representing a strong opinion.
Right on.
