I won't be gloating, because frankly, there's nothing to gloat about. If Stoner won a few more races, I'd be happy, but not gloating. I'd just like to see him finish a race or two, hopefully in the top 3, and get some confidence back before his season, (seems like), totally unravels.

As for Westy, I really feel sorry for him, as it obviously hasn't worked out, but it's certainly not all due to him. The whole kawasaki effort would seem to be almost as big a joke as Randy de punt it.

Son, Westy is not the joke at Kawasaki. That clown fae the states that they are paying loadsa money to is the problem. He couldnt win on the Suzuki, (his team mate could) so how is he going to do it on the Kawa.

yeah i agree, westy never came over giving it the big i am. he's a bit out of his league because he has no real direction from his team. im sure if he had opportunity's like a better team and a mentor ect we would see a different westy. im not sure if hopper has had it that much better but he defo aint worth the money he is being paid.

soz off topic.

He we did alright.

At least we didn't ask other countries to form a united front just because we can't get our own athletes and besides you guys have a lot of Aussie coaches so we can claim some credit.
<

Hey, for once we even got a couple of athletic medals which was surprising.

Mind you, the gloating from you Brits about the olympics this year will be nothing like what will happen in 2012 when they are in London. I might cut myself off from the world when that happens (not an olympic fan as we get so much jingoistic crap over here) or simply take long service and go for a long ride.

I wasn't aware that valentino rossi was english , or scottish. Australia actually did very well in the olympics, but the great britain team did even better on this occasion and credit to them for this.

I actually don't think there is much in it for any other rider to compete in the valentino rossi era, even apart from the fact that he is a great rider and you are likely to lose whatever you do, if you do your job well which is to try and beat him and succeed it makes 90% of the motogp world miserable, and yes as a stoner fan at present I do understand such misery, even recognising that it is irrational to have such emotional investment in a mere sporting event.

No offence intended if any was caused; the aussie jokes genuinely don't usually offend me. It is hard as a stoner fan at present to muster even a peurile attempt at wit or humour.

we didn't say he was although he did live here for a few years. we were just taking the piss out of the aussie national treasure attitude in sport, something us English don't really bother to much about.

In fairness Roger, you would be surprised how many Aussies get the shts by the sheer concentration on certain sports to the detriment of of 'less mainstream' (within Australia) sports.

In terms of the jingoistic hooplaa, there are only a few sports for which it is reserved within the media in this country, and even fewer (if any0 of those sports can be termed truly international.

Besides, if Rossi is called a Brit surely CS, Bayliss etc (yep, the ones we claim) have also qualified.

I wouldn't be surprised if he did, Stoner has been very strong in qualifying. Just needs to keep the bike upright, he should have won the last 2 races. Needs to get over things quickly and focus again.
