What will you do when Rossi retires?

I would think he'd take over the management of the Yamaha factory team under the guise of VR46 MotoGP Team.....this might also mean that JLo has no chance of every returning to Yamaha....

Lorenzo said that he expects his relationship with Rossi to improve now that he has moved to Ducati. He mentioned their relationship improved after Rossi made the move and he's right because they were often seen laughing/joking with each other at press conferences. Their relationship sours when they're on the same team and bike.

Not surprised (if true, and with your insight I do not doubt it) as we have to be honest and say that Lorenzo is currently one of the best riders in the field, and anyone who runs a team wants the best riders.

Perhaps the bigger question (and your insight would be interesting) is how much water will need to pass before it happens

So Rossi retires and motogp will flounder on like a rudderless ship until someone gets rid of the stupid espelatas and their 3rd rate organisation and gets its organised as a sport and not a commercial enterprise. I'll still watch as I like it, but something must be done.

I hope to see some better results for the brits this year as well, hopefully Smith will put Asparagus back in his proper place and Cal will win a few more.

He's not going to leave the sport is he?..when he stops riding he'll be running a team and the cameras will be all over his pit garage...we'll probably get more pit 'action' than on track action rammed down our throats with the saturation coverage he will receive.

I don't think so after all he's not supported by the great majority of race fans. The majority would abandon it if that cam to pass imo.

Well there are race fans like me who have followed the sport since before Rossi was even born and to me he's just another great rider in a long line of riders, but there is no doubt that he is the most popular guy in the sport and massively supported all around the world by the yellow hordes,i expect to see the majority of them still turning up to catch a glimpse of Rossi Team Manager, and the cameras constantly panning to his pit garage during the live feed for shots of his face while watching his riders in action........

What's the fun of watching a racing between Lorenzo x Marquez? Lorenzo x Iannone? Marquez x Dovizioso?

Those guys are boring. Only die hard fans finds it funny, but for general public there is no funny thing in kid-shaved-faced riders gently passing each other, at much, risking some maneuvers but utterly respecting each other.....
Sarcasm, I hope. MM and Iamapony are gently passing???? WTF?

Seriously? More sarcasm, I pray. You think professional sports should be philanthropic? "Gimme free stuff, 'cause I like deserve it" or what? There is no professional football, baseball, rugby or motorsports without commercial enterprise. How do you pay Rossi's salary and the team's cocaine and travel expenses without a commercial enterprise? Italian Government taxes? They are still in debt from Benito during WWII for Ducati's sake.
[Edit: I put Franco instead of Benito, for some unknown Chianti reason.]

I'd rather see Doohan back than Rossi continue, so there ya' go. I like 93, Binder, and a couple of other blokes, so I am just fine.

Yes there is sarcasm there and no it shouldn't be philanthropic, as that would rely on punters paying everything. I'm not interested in free either you get what you pay for, but its ridiculous the way it is, its all company politics and nothing else.
I would like to presume you put Franco in as a nazi sympathizer/supporter who shopped thousands of his own people to Hitler.

There is a lot of talk about when Rossi retires and how much it will impact the sport but personally ... i think the biggest impact will come when Uccio hangs the boots up.

Good to hear about the sarcasm. I had to use Mussolini because we are talkin' Rossi. Now if it was JLo, then Franco would have worked.

Rossi helped bring money back to the Yamaha team. So, love him or hate him, you can't avoid his financial creds. I am not sure that it is healthy for the sport, since so much money, time, and effort is spent on this one guy, whether he wins or not. But it is what it is.

If Uccio hangs anything up it is that damn clipboard ...........

I really do not care, but I think the sport will be cleaner without him and his intrigues. So I think a slight relief it will be.

Granted I haven't known gp without Valentino, but I will continue watching the races, and attend when I am able.

I wouldn't be surprised if Dorna resorts to keeping Rossi "racing" by showing him put his leathers and helmet on in the pit box, walking out of camera view and doing a "texas switch" with a rider who is capable of running mid-pack for another 10 years.
