I almost feel like Gardner came on here and just copied my sentiments. I read these comments by Wayne Gardner regarding what awaits Stoner next year, and I felt he nailed it exactly!

ha yeh i just read this too..gotta say its spot on to what you and many others have said. Not much to discuss i think at least on my part...i completely agree with this. Its a shame there is so much political bs involved.

AS Said i cant see Honda man up and run there team

i think Livio might get the better of Pug he wont be there forever if he is Honda dont deserve any more titles ......

Gardner doesn't sound biased much
<

What awaits Stoner at Repsol Honda? I think the world title.

Bias, yes, but incorrect here?

Possibly not far from the truth, but i dont think all the secret data and special chassis in the world will help Dani if casey gets a basic package he can ride. And i think he will

Gardner is a "has been" and his opinion is pretty pointless. As for "what awaits Stoner at Honda?" .. . . . . . . . More complaining, moaning, whine'ing, whinging and plenty of time in the kitty litter.

If what we hear is to be believed, ie. Stoner sets a bike up in a way that others don't, Pedrosa's "data" will likely be worth nothing to him. Didn't Stoner famously change everything from the recommended setting when he had his first race with Ducati? He'll just do the same with the Honda. WHo knows in a few months time Puigmay be seen scratching at he wall with bare fingernails attempting to have it removed
<
<
<

This may in part explain why Honda/Suppo were so keen to get him
<

Honda understand that there is a wall there around Puig and Dani, physical or not they need someone who can operate regardless of a wall. They got him ...... Stoner.

In reality I doubt the "walls" very much affect riders, and indeed if they do ...... one has to wonder if that rider is capable of being in MGP.

I think its pretty obvious puig will do all he can to give Dani any advantage he can. that's his job. we didn't need a knob like gardner to point that out

+1

i also expect that this is going to get ugly.

any information on the chassis situation?i understand pedrosa rides a special smaller chassis as opposed to everyone else,if stoner is obligated to use the bigger chassis i could very well imagine that those guys will find a way to make it go slower/ the pedro bike faster.

BM has a point here, maybe it was all about "hey let's have a rider thats not affected by a wall and is just able to ride a bike fast no matter what"

but then again i'm afraid that stoner could crack if theres such intense pressure in the team. i certainly would if i had to race pedrosa and always knowing in the back of my mind that there is the possibilty my bike is not as good and still i have to outperform him....

Honda want someone who isn't Pedrosa to reliably and regularly win races even if the bike isn't perfect, i think they have the right man

And you couldn't be more wrong........Stoner has been on par with inconsistency, if not more so than Pedders in the last 2 years. And Pedders has suffered more injuries.

What is waiting for CS at Repsol is a massive amount of expectation, as was heaped on him in 2008-and we know how that went.........anyone would think that Pedders can't ride at all from the CS boppers here.

Hello peeps-Pedders beat Stoner to a 250cc title, and has beaten him 'consistently' in the title race for the past 2 years. Add to this Dovi who is improving, plus Jorge and Spies on Factory M1's-then top it off with Rossi on a Ducati!!

Make no mistake, Stoners issues inside the garage will be minor compared to what he'll face on track.

I thought facts and figures mattered to engineering types like yourself..........

22 wins stoner to 12 dani in 5 years in the premier class, more wins than dani in 3 of 4 thus far completed seasons in the premier class which I understand from the 2006 season is what really counts, and 1 world championship to none in 5 seasons which it was my understanding counted even more. Has not beaten stoner in this year's championship as yet.

No-one would suggest that dani is trivial opposition notwithstanding this.

Exactly my point

Yes and 10 or 11 of those wins came in 2007, so since then they are both on a similar level of inconsistency, and Dani has had more injury problems. Tom sprouting that Stoner can just get on the bike and regularly win races so based on current form (last 2 years) this is simply not the case Stoner hasn't shown he can do this any more than Dani can.......

If we want to bring up the aliens record in the premier class from go to woe, then all roads lead to Rome (or Bolonga/Tauvilla) for next year mate, which is why I was only referencing more recent form, for now the 2007 800's are about as relevant as the 2006 990's.

Lets look at really current form,

Dani 2010 2 DNf's

4 wins, 9 podiums

Stoner 2010, 3 DNf's

2 wins, 8 podiums

Actually based on this, my money would be firmly on Dani. So with facts in hand, saying that Stoner is simply going to walk in a win races for Honda over Dani, whose been there for 7 odd years now, is quite silly, even shall I say 'Bopperish'.

It like saying that VR is going to walk in and consistently win races for Ducati, as there current rider (s) aren't. And of course using your rather bias logic above, Rossi's record in the premier class..............

Uhm, because those don't count right?

Pedro has had every advantage possible, hell even a rules change designed around him with a lobbyist as a manager who also has an office within the governing body (if that's what we want to call them). And still no cigar. You are a bottomless pit of .... takes as usual.

Until this year Dani hasn't won more than 2 races in a season. Since 06 Casey hasn't won less than 2 in a season. Dani has no titles, Casey has one. Casey has more wins. Injury problems are not randomly allocated, they are advantages and disadvantages that come with each rider.

As an aside on the subject of Gardner did any one read Nicky's repsonse to being called a 2nd tier rider. Saw it in MCN (hey i was at work!) a while ago but basically Nicky described how when he was still at Repsol, Gardner just about being able to squeeze into his leather's on, having a go on the RCV wobbling around about 20 seconds off the pace then came in telling them what swingarm and firing order they needed and that when he retires he hopes he doesn't become like him.

Has Stoner ever had a wall to deal with?? I don't know if he will care about a wall or not....but to this point he has always had access to the entire teams data if he needed to use it for any reason.

I think Repsol will fail to win the last 800cc title.....just because it will be a house divided and fall. Pedrosa will have a "team" ice cream party every round to make Stoner sick.
