Vermeulen threatens Toseland
Sulking Aussie not happy with Brit's tactics

(02/04/2008)

Formerly rated Aussie Chris 'Vermin' Vermeulen has uninterestingly hit out again the strong arm tactics used by James Toseland during the race at Jerez.
Throughout the Jerez weekend Toseland's Yamaha nail was down on power to everything but the slower paddock scooters so during the race was forced to use aggressive mid-corner overtaking manoeuvres. This, however, didn't go down well with the weeping Vermin as JT's pass left the Aussie with a bent brake lever and a ruffled mole.

If you can't fight wear a big hat. Vermin issues a threat from everyone

"If you treat people with respect, they will give respect back to you. It's all going to come back to him at some point" sulked the Suzuki number two in a superb 'someone's gonna get him back, but possibly not me' fashion.

However most people believe that it's just sour grapes on Vermeulen's part as newboy Toseland is not only making him look average but has also previously won the WSBK championship with Honda - something Chris failed to do. To compound the Aussie's misery he's also now been beat twice by his highly unrated old team-mate Loris 'between jobs' Capirossi.

"He [Vermin] says JT was out of order and lacked any style or finesse" stated one fan "Yet he's Australian. No one like a hypercritic Chris. I just think all his crying was just a ploy to make the track wetter."

The final word must go with Vermeulen however and not, for once, with JT's manager Roger Burnett because we don't care what drivel he has to say.
"James should just wait for Laguna or a wet race" concluded the beefing Chris "then we'll see who's the best."

I think things will heat up next time these two share the track. What do you guys think? Was Toseland dangerous or merely aggressive?
<

Classic case of an interview I've read about Chris talking about JT taken totally out of context. It reads completely differently in Australian Motor Cycle News.
And typical pathetic journalism throwing in one "fans" comments - very balanced.... NOT!

CV should man up. The guy came from WSB and WSS, he should be used to this kind of stuff.

i read the same thing the other day in MCN( i know, i know..)

what some other riders have said

Loris Capirossi:
Toseland hit him twice as he passes for fifth on the penultimate lap.
his reaction : James was a little bit too aggressive. but i like it like that. it was hard but fair. he touched me twice, but i don't have a big problem with that.

Andrea Dovizioso:
Toseland passed him on lap 24
his reaction : the move James made was a bit aggressive but it certainly was'nt over the limit. mabey he just needs to be more careful in the future.

its called racing and .... happens..

Good thing too!

Its about time CV got a bit of aggression ..... everyone calls him the nice guy and he's likeable but he needs to get some anger in him ....... maybe it will give him the drive he needs.

Bash into him a bit more Toseland he needs it.

As much as we've all been enjoying JT's antics, his passing is a bit scrappy at the moment, but thats something that he'll work on.

Don't you think that has something to do with the fact that he's down on power and have to choose between agressive passes or being passed?

I think it will improve with the new engine.

Toseland was pretty ill to be fair, so I imagine this had an impact on his abilities, thus having to muscle the bike around more than normal.

Hasn't rookie Toseland been the top WSBK finisher in both races so far?

Well of course, the poor guy has been purging. Somebody remind me how much weight he lost? Geez, the guy was already super fit with less fat in his entire body then Roger's left butt cheek.

Oh yeah i think it is a lot to do with forcing a bike past the only time he has the chance, i think his approach is significantly better than not passing at all. With experience he wont be so rough around the edges and he wont ride like a SBK rider anymore, the new engine will make his life easier for sure.

Watching the Free Practice 2, they interviewed JT, and he basically said "I am paid to pass people, that's what I am employed to do". He also said he passed Loris and Dovi in similar ways and they didn't complain like CV. Once JT gets some more power and gets used to GP riding I think he will be a bit smoother on his passes.

I love what J.T. is bringing to MotoGP. I am quickly becoming a J.T. fan. He has a slower machine but is finishing well through sheer testicular fortitude, also known as BALLZ
