The invisible strip...that was brilliant...but not as great as this perhaps my favourite Saints moment..

Haha, why did you have to remind me of him. The only sub to get subbed without injury. WTF was Graeme Souness thinking.

....a question that has frequently been asked -

He didn't last long at Southampton. We replaced him with your mate Dave Jones IIRC , but Rupert Lowe .... on him. Shame because i though he wasn't a bad manager.

Cardiff nightmare aside he was in the frame for the job after the sacking of Sven last year....so was your very own Iain Dowie.

Talking about managers, i had a scary thought the other night. Redknapp has left spurs and gone full circle ending up back in his old stomping ground Bournemouth (cherries) I hope he has not made that move in the hope Adkins will fail and get sacked pathing the way back in for him.

What happened to Eddie Howe?...also, didn't the Saints approach him after the sacking of Pardew?

No ,we had Adkins from Scunthorpe lined up to take Pardew's place. The fans loved Pardew and it's still a mystery why he got sacked. I don't buy into the rumours about him mucking about with players wags. That was banded about by hammers fans because of sour grapes i reckon.

Eddie how left the cherries about a year ago for Burnley.

Redknapp is not liked in southampton because not only is he ex skate but his coming to st marys in 05 is looked upon as a sabotage mission by many.

personally i dont buy into that bollocks. I dont really rate him as a manager. I think of him as a blank cheque manager. he get results but at a cost. just look at his aftermath . I believe he came to saints wanting his unlimited cheque book and was refused. Rupert Lowe, Crouch ect had spent all the money on hookers and duck hunting and there was nothing left for poor old Harry.

My Arrab are you a follower of the white army?

I knew that would get your attention when I posted it Phil. Not really, but I remember the Don Revie era with great affection from my childhood - much like Paisley's Liverpool - and that clip of Leeds literally taking the piss is immortalised - listen to some of the names in the commentary. I'm originally from London and was a QPR supporter for some bizarre reason - I think it was the skills of Rodney Marsh and the renegade reputation of Stan Bowles that did it (his couldn't give a .... attitude on BBC's 'Superstars'). My allegiance changed as a child to Leicester City because they became my local team and I could watch Frank Worthington, Keith Weller and later Lineker every other week for £2.50.

Haven't been to Ellen Road since the '80s...still traumatised by my last visit. Anyway - your concerns should be at Oakwell....glory hunter!!!!

(Well - a one time glory hunter perhaps)

Oakwell Good bet to go down there, or so my lad predicts

One of the all time greatest sides ever assembled in English football league history and my abiding memory of Match of the Day in the '70s.....[/media]

(Sorry Rog)

Which can always be balanced against :

I never watch club football, only really watch internationals... my team has been ..... for 46 years...

And to think I thought I'd started a thread about riders, didn't quite expect it to end up as a footie thread

You're right - let's get back to Johnny Rea

Yeah sure.

Oh did to see in the news today that Adam Lallana (saints) has been called up to the England squad for tuesday's match. He should be in good company with Walcott (ex saints youth acc) Alex Chambilin (ex saints youth acc) and Bale (ex saints youth acc) if he is still in the squad. :lol:Maybe Sheerer (ex saints youth acc) will be commenting on TV during the match.

Why was ex Saints striker Steve Moran so ..... when we bought him in 1985?

Strikers are only as good as the service they get from the mid field. I wouldn't of described him as prolific at saints but better than he was at Leicester city.

Want to buy Guly De Prado?? please.

That'll be the same midfield used to feed Gary Lineker and Alan Smith. After their departure we suddenly we found ourselves (still in the old Canon League Div 1) with Steve Moran and ex Palace Fulham and QPR 'striker' Tony Sealey (also surely and ex Saint too) and a sudden marked drop in potency up front...I can't for the life of me think why.

Okay a quick question about the numbering of the riders, I notice they don't run from like 1-24 etc. in numerical order, so do they get to keep their own number each year? Do they choose their own number? I assume the World Champion always has the number 1 though or am I wrong? Casey Stoner has it now and I know he was champ in 2011.

Thanks to anyone who can save me spending ages to try and find that out via google.
