Sponsorship are not interested because the appeal of a female racer in comparison is tiny. The female angle for that is non existent and would only become interesting to the masses once they started winning .

I once was a mechanic for a bike race team and one of the riders was female (a right .....). Anyway, in the bar in the evening the men racers, mechanics ect would sit about drinking a few pints and talking racing, like who's fast ect. She was excluded from any such boys club talk like a social leper. The only blokes that came over to talk to her where not talking racing but more trying to get in her knickers. Maybe its easier in the higher level than what i was in but they still have to get there.

Was this girl actually any good, or is the fact that she was female the only reason she had her ride?

Bridgestone? Cementing their place as the worst sole tyre supplier in professional Motorsport. In contrast to 2007 when various circuits were re-surfaced including fly aways like Laguna, they spent oddles of time and money then.....I really do fear for the future of this sport if we end up with 20L, 5 engines and Bridgestone next year.

Which is .... because we have a really good group of riders and it would be nice to see a fairer playing field.

Looking good for today for Jorge, the one plus in the pit stop could be fuel, anyone got the low down on what happens with the limit?

If it is dry and Rossi doesn't win, we can rule out your "the fuel is unfair to Rossi" theory. Everyone can run at full power without worrying about running out of fuel. Plus this is one of his best tracks.

And Crutchlow, maybe even the Ducatis-that's a big stretch I know!

Is this the case? No fuel management needed?

I dont know what parallel universe you reside, but where we are from,  If you're  a little cute and compete against guys, the money rolls in by the dump truck load. Ever hear of Danica Patrick.

Put about 14 litres in each bike and boost those ....... up to about 275 hp. lol Somebody like Rossi or the factory Ducati's  who has nothing to lose should try it

Genuine question as to lazy to look up but is there a restriction on the total amount of fuel that can be used per bike / per rider for a weekend?

Some categories of motorsport do have it but have never heard talk of it in MGP.

EDIT.

Has been stated in commentary that in MGP no maximum weekend rule exists

What an appologist load of ..... No official testing but would it have been such a big deal to send a tech to the track to check the coefficient of friction of the resurface to see if they were even in the ....... ball park? NO.

Either Dorna massively ...... up writing the contract or Bridgestone massively ...... up in their responsibility. Either way its a .... up. Everyone knew PI was being resurfaced and in this day and age it is unfathomable that the tyre manufacturer had no ....... idea about the surface that their tyres were to be used on. NO ....... EXCUSE!

But Mick, they did bring a new construction tyre on a 'just in case' basis?

Plus, as I mentioned in the earlier post, in MGP the only tyre that clearly seemed to degrade that I saw was Crutchlow's. Yes there was talk but from the pictures seen only Cal's tyre delaminated and whilst one is to many, could it have been style or pressures as some commentators surmised?

As for Stones not checking coefficient etc, the sheer fact that the track was resurfaced and in regular use would have likely meant that any reading taken some months ago, would have been superfluous at this round due to the use and rubbering up. IMO, they farked up pure and simple, not for the first time (and same with Michelin at this track) and it will not be the last.

Yes i have but so what?  just because one got great exposure ironically helped by exposing herself in a half clad state for the pleasure of people more interested in her fanny than her racing. Not all female racers are prepared to stoop to that level and just want to race.

Ever heard of Taru Rinne ?  The sponsors and good rides were never going to be an option for Katja Peonsgen and she did do a few poses for the boys. I doubt Ana really wants to play the ... sells to get ahead game.

If you're talking about the girl racer i spannered for? Yes she was very good and scored podiums. If you're talking about Ana Carassco, well i think her performances speak for themselves. I believe Ana is only the second female to score a championship point in gp. Taru being the first.

Dorna/FIM need to help these circuits get their act together with additional airfence. I think three riders have hit the tyres this weekend, and not because the fence is too close but riders try to keep it upright (fair enough) and end up getting way off track before they stack it.

Would be a good idea to run a bit extra and run the bike in full power mode for both legs.

I can't decide if essentially unlimited fuel will help Honda or Yamaha the most.

Yamaha's engines are not as efficient, and would generally benefit.  However, PI is supposedly not particularly fuel-challenging.  Further, Yamaha's engines are not as robust, and may well be unable to run at full chat for significant distances.

Honda, OTOH, is bombproof.  I suspect they could run at qualifying/push-to-pass output (17K+) for half-race-distance without worry.  Doing so is exactly the sort of thing they'd consider, just because they're Honda and just because they can.  I'll definitely be doing the rev review as soon as the on-board becomes available.

Exactly, and then of course there was Hayden last year over the fence at Aragon (?)

The interesting point for me with some of these this weekend has actually been that in some cases they are clearing the gravel traps with ease and no apparent or obvious slowing which is a little concerning regarding the traps themselves

Having conducted a worldwide analysis of gravel traps (I've walked through them at 3 different circuits) the "gravel" at PI is designed to stop a V8 supercar.

The stones are massive and the bike can glide over them with ease, they will never catch or even slow an upright bike and can be steered upon which is what is keeping riders up until the tyre fence.

I look forward to seeing how Rossi actually handles this race as it is a track at which he tends to go very well (only Stoner has gotten in his way) and on a day where he can play a pivotal role in the championship by ensuring that Lorenzo finishes ahead of him and Marquez behind..

Of more interest will be if Marquez is leading with Rossi second and Lorenzo third as that would be enough for Marquez to win the title.

Aside from the race, there are so many computations that are at play so will be quite interesting.

But it is also one of the best things about bikes for me, team orders are rare

If Marquez wins and Lorenzo comes third marquez will win the championship this weekend. But if Lorenzo comes second behinds marc, marc will have to wait until Motegi.
