There may be a play to get F1 at Phillip Island

There is some talk there may be a play to get Boremula 1 to Phillip Island! One can only wonder how much they would ruin the circuit to cater for it!

Let's hope it remains an outside chance!

Footnote: The Fox family have the money ... let's hope they don't want it badly enough!

Same old story. I can understand the circuits need to generate income and they cant do that on one Bike GP a year. But the cars wreck the .... out the tracks.
Boremula 1....I like that
<
. I think they should have just called it 'Dull as ....', but boremula 1 has more of a ring to it

I don't think that's gonna happen - to much of an outcry! They'll keep it in Melbourne or it'll go to the Gold Coast or better still - tell Bernie to stick the whole load of .... race up his arse.

Can't see it happening.
They say the Fox family has the cash to make the changes required to get F1, but IMO they won't spend it. The track will need to be closed for too long, therefore no income from the track, (after all the Fox family are in business to make money, not spend it in hope of getting a race. We all know Bernie won't give a race until he sees the facility in real life and not on Blue print) plus there is not enough accommodation near the track or on the Island.

The suggestion of an F1 track at Flemington is laughable. The horse folk would never allow a disrupution to the track. The government won't allow any downtime of racing in Melbourne as they make too much money from it.

Bernie really wants a night race, (whether its a scam to move the F1 race from Melbourne or so Europe can watch the race at a "sensible" time) Melbourne need to face facts and relise the real possibility that the race will not be in Australia after the current contract expires (2010?)

The tracks not wider enough for F1 and there is only one road to and from the Island. Not a chance in hell and I for one am glad about that.

that would be awful, they would put in all those run off and just make the track too easy for the bikes.

Plus, all the hard braking from the cars at the end of the straight would make for a very bumpy ride. I don't want my trackdays on the CBR to be ruined...

Just out of curiosity, what top speed do you get down the start/finish straight on your CBR?
Ive ridden at Donington, but the straight is too short to get any major speed there.

On my 2005 Kawa 636 I have seen 267kph (indicated).
OEM tyres
Mirrors removed
Rear indicator assembly removed
Akrapovic slip on

I now place tape over the speed indicator, it's provides less of a distraction!!
