Here's a video of Laguna Seca before the lake bed turns were added for the GPs. The strait between T2 and what is now T5 is great. And how about T5 back then? This track was so quick back then, too bad the track had to be changed for motorcycles.

BTW, the IMSA series in the 80s was heaven. Wish I was old enough to enjoy it back then.
 
Wow lame track....glad they changed it. Was like a freaking oval or something soo much less technical. That track looks way too easy.

I argue that the slow lake bed turns are lame.

It's too bad they couldn't have kept the old layout for cars, since car and bike racers want different things in a racetrack.
