I have to agree with BWB. As a techie I love some of the technology to spawn out of MotoGP or even F1, but there is very little argument against saying that safety is probably the one biggest development over the years, along with medical treatments.

Serious injuries are far less these days and riders walk (or limp) away from accidents that have crippled riders such as Rainey.

There's another one right there... Bikes that go round corners!

Lets continue this conversation, what do you consider to be the best trickle down technology? What was introduced on the track and later became standard equipment for motorcycles and riders?

For me it is rider protection. The gear available at the store is phenomenal and world class.

Disk brakes.

First appeared on a Douglas back the 20s?
Lambretta fitted them in the mid-60s.
MV was still running those honking big 4 shoe drums when Honda was fitting discs to road bikes.
So, I reckon your protective gear is still #1. Definitely driven straight from race tech.
