Thanks mate,me Dad has touched on it too,I just haven`t had the time lately with designing the paint...Stupid aint it when the simplest of things takes eons to put to A4 and felt tips.

I`m a flat track and HD bobber style fan as you can gather,obviously I won`t be able to get that close in terms of dimensions of the trike but the general idea is coming.I`ve stripped the back end ,rubbed most of the panels down although the petrol tank needs some attention to the usual dings etc.

Will be changing the bars and headlight/instrumentation ,have a set of forks needing new seals to put on although they will be a stopgap till I can afford the upside downers.There`s a whole new rigid rear end to be welded on which is six inches longer than now as the head shakes with such a short wheelbase .Colour will be like the black in the bobber pic but with old fashioned chequer tape incorporated into the tank plus white AMA style numberboards on the sidepanels.

Thats about it for now except I haven`t told you that while knocking off the old mudguard struts ,I missed with the hammer.I now have a little hole in my lower leg that only stopped bleeding last night and a huge bruise to go with it.

Working on the final paint design now,so I`ll put a pic up when its finalised.Ok out with the fibreglass and filler next week ready for paint and send for some vintage exhaust wrap ala the bobber pic again.Anyone have a bellypan they don`t want?Pm me please.

Drill, sorry it's taken me so long to find this thread and I'm looking at the progress. I see some definite potential with this project. First off, in the latest pic, has the rear been lowered any? If so, I think it needs to come down some more. I also was thinking if possible, can you narrow the rear end a little to bring the wheels a little closer together, dunno, you may want a wider stance, I've never ridden a trike on the road but have ridden 3-wheelers back in the day before they were replaced by quads, so maybe a wide stance is a good thing. Maybe put together some sheet metal together and create some fenders...oh damn that woudl be bad ...! Definitely black out the front wheel. You mentioned a different front end, have you thought about raking it out any, is that possible? Damn Drill, I'm spending your money mate, but this is all stuff that can be done over time as the budget allows. Oh the one bike your using for design influence is Russ Mitchell's bike, have you seen the trike he built, it's on the exile cycles website, love those fat ... wheels on the back of that trike.

Thanks bud,yeah,the Russ trike is phenomonal and the man is an inspiration to me now.Will be blacking out the front wheel as you suggested and I can get away without any rake as it will be 6 inches longer when built (long wheelbase).The rear fenders are already being chopped down and are a lot better than the original shape.Well everything is ready for spraying now which should start in about a week from now ( I`ll post up the paintscheme soon).The pisser now is I`ve got to wait for the money to come thru for the hardtail welding,so this prob won`t be finished till `bout April 2011.

So thats it for now but absolutely plenty to do till then as I want it as good as my old GT550 trike (theres a pic or two on here somewhere).Thanks for the interest mate.BTW I`m keeping the wide stance as I do tend to throw a trike into a corner with quite some vigour.

Edit-forgot to add the rear end will come down about 6 to 7 inches and a drop of 1 inch in the fork yokes.

Ok, the stance of the GT550 is correct! Paint scheme, unfortunately I'm not very good at picturing how something would look, but I think that would look good. Red seat? maybe red fenders?....that might be too much, just brainstorming.

I`ll use red pinstripe around the tank chequers to match the seat,keeps it subtle and simple.I may also run a chequered centre stripe from nosecone to tail but I`ll draw it first as it may be a bit overkill.

I wouldve never expected for this to be the final product minus the paint. make sure u take care of it and pass her along to the kids.



out of curiosity how much did the trike initially cost and how much money did u put in it?

Hold on there,the bottom pic is my OLD trike,the one with no mudguards is my present one.. the one I`m working on now cost me £1700 ,would`ve paid less if I`d have known the problems to come but thats custom .... for ya.Rob Halford??? I`m ......` offended mate.

i kept looking at both pics of the trikes like 700 times thinking u've done a complete make over. sorry for my dumbness ur offended if someone compares u to the front man of Judas Priest? anyway. sorry if ur offended i take it back
