Suzuki To Test

Glad to see them re-join the zoo.

Sad to see they caved to the absurd 20L / 5 engine B.S.

I was rather hoping they'd sign on as a 'CRT,' just to highlight the absurdity of the current situation.

They want the freedom to develop their own software. It's the R&D argument they use to sell the cost to their board.

i'd figure it would make more sense if the people that work in advertisement sold the idea of spending millions for the sake  of brand image to the board

True.

But no factory effort in its right mind would enter the secondary class. Krop goes on about selling it to the board....imagine selling that class to the board.

Suzuki rightly cops a lot of flack for pulling out of MotoGP after all the concessions they were given.

But in their defence, imagine selling continuing in the 1000cc class to the board after the lack of success in the 800s.

To a board that is watching their American operations haemorrhage cash, flat sales everywhere except those new markets that you're sinking 100s of Millions of capital into.

Not to mention the Ducati getting lambasted as a POS but still ahead of you.

I'm just glad they're back.

I wouldn't be surprised if this is down to Dorna hedging against Ducati's VAG owners pulling out.

Cracking idea. They could buy the mona lisa ;)

They would even save money compared to all the funds they will piss down the drain in motogp running in the midfield.

On a serious note though, good luck to them. I hope they become competitive.

Seems to prove they are serious about making a return to the sport then. Good on them, new teams coming in is never a bad thing to have happen. As a matter of interest, is there an upper limit for the amount of bikes allowed in any race? I know in F1 it's a maximum of 26 cars but I confess I don't know if there is a similar rule for motogp.

Yes, there is a limit put on entrants by Dorna, but not by the FIM 'rules'.

Each MSMA member (factory) is allowed 4 entries, 2 full factory bikes and two satellite bikes, with unlimited numbers of riders as they like, but only two bikes per team.

There is an upper limit to the number of bikes they can accomodate - Dorna has contracted for 26(?) pit garages as a minimum.
