STONER

So you want impossible proof? we all know dorna pull all motogp youtubes the second they surface. I too would like to hear the full interview to make sure of the comments context. You have to admit though, Casey has as much form for verbal gaff's as prince Phillip

Dorna only pulls down interviews borrowed from their site, not those done by newspapers

that are independant of Dorna. It's true Stoner isn't always his best PR man - but I think

he's learned from mistakes and doubt very much he'd make such a negative remark

at this point in time. Every actor and politician in the world complain about newspapers

that misquote, and twist meanings and make out of context quotes appear inflammatory

for the sake of creating controversy on a slow news day.

Those folks who need to believe negative things about the rivals of their heroes

in order to bolster their already negative beliefs will always be happy to suspend

critical judgment - simply because it's convenient to do so.

So it's one line from an interview, without a source(link), or any sort of conext? And whaterver Casey said has been translated at least twice? I'm gonna give the guy the benefit of the doubt.

I think the thing that gets missed with Stoner is he doesn't sugar coat or play the everything is ..... dory card too much. Take for instance when they asked him about Aragon. Paraphrasing here, but he didn't give it rave reviews like all the other riders do every time they are asked about the current event track for the weekend. Every time they ask a rider, most always they say, yeah its great, fantastic, bla bla bla. If I remember right, some peeps jumped on Stoner for not saying the track was stellar. And what did he do? He just won the race in crushing fashion. Honestly, for me I prefer the straight talker to the lip service guy. Obviously, this doesn't apply to sponsors, who expect the rider to promote them. But I don't think Casey has screwed them, infact quite the contrary. The loose cannon in that dynamic was the Marlboro man who came out and talked .... when Stones was dealing with illness.

no no its my bad lol a poor piss take on the "hamlet" comment

Stoner eager to leave Ducati with win

By Toby Moody and Matt Beer Thursday, November 4th 2010, 16:06 GMT

Casey Stoner says he does not expect to get emotional about his final race with Ducati until afterwards, and just hopes he can bow out with a victory at Valencia.

The 2007 world champion moves to Honda next season after four seasons with Ducati.

He said the parting was an amicable one, and that he was determined to leave on a high.

"It won't be until after the race that all the emotions are going to hit us," said Stoner. "It's going to be a little bit strange, I suppose, coming into race day, but I'm still going out there to win.

"Since we've been out of the championship running this year, I may be criticised for it, but I've just been going out there to win races, I haven't been going out there to score points. I don't really mind about coming third or fourth or fifth in the championship - I'm out there to win, and that's what I've been trying to do.

"I think at this last one we've got a really good chance to win and that's the best thing I can do for them. I've appreciated all my time with them. I think we've had a great relationship, and I still do with everyone, Filippo [Preziosi] especially.

"It was a more difficult moment when we made the decision to switch than the actual switch is going to be. We've had all year to really get over it and just focus on the season at hand. But for sure after this last race that's probably when it will be a little sad in some ways but exciting in others."

He said that the highlights of his Ducati sojourn had been both his '07 title success - in only his second MotoGP season - but also the times when the team had defied its critics.

"Each year when we're counted down and out, and people have forgotten about us, and then we come back and sort of surprise everyone and we're still there - every year we seem to surprise everyone, which is a surprise to me," Stoner said.

"That's always a nice feeling, when we're able to come back from the dead basically, when nobody expects us to challenge for anything. 2008 was the perfect example of that."

But he admitted to some disappointment that often Ducati's surges in form had come after the title was out of reach.

"It's always too late, unfortunately," said Stoner. "We don't have a lot of development to work with or anything like that, so we have to work with what we've got on the bike, and with the lack of testing and lack of track time, it's difficult.

"It did hamper us a bit this year, but at the same time it's the same for everybody. We just took that little bit too long each season to really get up and running."

Stoner's current crew will move to Honda with him, which he said was both personally important and would ensure he got up to speed quicker than if he had to build new relationships at Honda.

"They're my guys, they're my family," said Stoner of his mechanics. "I know that they'd follow me through volcanoes and everything. I love them as much as they love me and we've become such a family in there that there was really no question that we'd separate. I've had a great four years with them and didn't want it to end with Ducati.

"I guess over the years riders have created more and more power for themselves, and more bargaining power, so they've had the option to take their teams along.

"Also these days it's especially important given the amount of track time we get compared to what they used to. It's so critical to get a set-up on these machines, you can't just brake an extra 50 metres later and make up a heap of ground. With a team that knows you and a team you're comfortable with surrounding you, it makes things a lot easier."

Clearly, a whiner, a prick, a dingleberry, ungrateful .......how dare he reward the brand and sponsors with attempting to win.

Yes, well I can't find the vid of Stoner's interview, but I found a free vid on Dorna's site you might like. I realize its in Spanish, but try Google translate. LINK

I dont even have to click the link, I know the video in question. It was one of the creepiest videos I have ever seen. It was like some kind of creepy kiddy .... staring one kid playing Pinocchio and one playing that little ...... from Fantasy Island. I turned it off before they got naked.

Actually Stoner does owe Ducati something and Ducati owes Stoner something. It's been a good partnership so they both owe each other courtesy and respect. As to what Stoner said - who knows? I don't believe Italian media.

Thanks Jumkie

I ran that interview through an old Italian translator & then converted it back to English.

Apparently is says: may the fleas of a thousand camels infest the underwear of everyone at Ducati.

After reading most of his comments it does look like jumkey is a Rossi hater. There was no need to bring Rossi into this. Now this has become a another Rossi stoner thread.

I agree. How dare anyone bring rossi into a good stoner hating thread
<
.

I don't particularly care if he did say words to this effect anyway. As j4rno says he is likely still pissed off at the marlboro man initiated treatment of him last year, and however it may have looked to outside observers he may himself have been in a position to know whether he was genuinely crook. I imagine the speculation about his psychological/psychiatric health was probably quite prominent in the italian press in particular, giving him no reason to love them.

How much he owes ducati will become evident over the next year, with preliminary evidence coming as soon as next monday. If valentino jumps on the bike and is immediately quick and goes on to easily win the title next year it will be strong evidence that stoner owes ducati a lot. if he can't do these things even with greater resources available to ducati as a consequence of his advent it may be that history records that ducati considerably owe stoner.

As for Rossi's shoulder injury, who knows what it is, maybe you are right its just a muscle ache, we will never know. But he is racing and putting on a show nonetheless, and yes he complains about it. I am sure if you raced a moto gp bike with a muscle ache...you too might complain. In any case if he decides to have the operation to his shoulder, it would no longer be a muslce ache...would it?

As opposed to stoner's fake scaphoid problem, for which he clearly only had an operation to lend verisimilitude to his story
<
. You guys really don't get the double standards thing, do you?
