Stoner speaks out

I actually think Bayliss was one of the greats over the last 6 - 7 years. If the Ducati was competative, and the Bridgestyones were good, I think he would have won a lot of GP races. He went back to SBK in a move put together by Ducati to try to dominate superbikes.
I almost wish he stayed in GP on the 800's.

I agree that the other ex GP riders were in SBK because they did not have options in MotoGP and past their best, and there is not many in SBk that I would put in MotoGP.

Nothing wrong with Superbikes, because they produce pure racing, but MotoGP is still the top and I guarantee all the SBK riders would jump at a good ride in MotoGP.

It's good to see that Stoner has respect for the greats, including Rossi even though he is still racing against him. Every young bike racer wants to be Rossi, and I don't think Stoner is any different. It must be pretty awsome to be racing againt the guy, and getting some respect back from Rossi.
This interview is also from an Italian mag. Stoner is not likely to bag Rossi to an Italian magazine.

What's Schwantz doing on there...outrageous!!!

To consider Kevin Schwantz an equal rider to Rainey, Doohan and Lawson is to overrate him. His entertainment value, popularity and legendary status can be compared (and is arguably superior) to those he rode against, but he achieved significantly less on the track.

this is deja vu...i seem to remember reading this exact post a long time ago.

but i agree with those who thinks casey got some serious PR lectures during the off season. it seems not like him. but oh well, people do change, i'd give him the benefit of the doubt

As i have always maintained, Schwantz is undeniably a legend of the sport, and its hardly surprising he's a hero to so many riders of the current generation

The shirt says, "Inspired by", not "these guys are the greatest of all time".

You can be inspiring for all different reasons, some obvious, some perhaps less obvious, like I find JT inspirational because he had a ...... life and overcame adversity bla bla bla.

Doesn’t mean he is the greatest of all time

This is as honest as it can get, while you are competing and fighting with the one you give such credits to. I dont think i could give credit to someone i fight with, even if i have been a fan of him.

So for Casey to say these things finally, he wantes to put it behind himself and go on with the real work on hand, and that's taking the championship back.

Stoner has grown up a lot since last year, and he knows wel enogh that he is capable of beating Rossi again.

I think the big fights between these 2 just has started.

I just hope they get closer to eachother and none could run away with it.

Lil John did the damage, nobody since has done it.

Likewise, what WSBK guys have really done anything in GP? Bayliss won one race on the Duke, but did jack the rest of his career on a GP bike. The race he did win was the anti climax of the year with Rossi on his arse and Hayden riding for the points.

To consider Tom to be as knowledgeable as Jumkie, Rog or Pete is to overate him. His comedy value and ability to talk about being an engineer can be compared (and is argueably superior) to Pinky, but he would have achieved considerably less without Google.

Nurburring can reffer to numerous track layouts, most commonly the new GP track (which i'm not especially fond of). If i believed the claims you make about yourself i would of expected you to know that, fortunately i don't fall for it.

Thanks for the praise Tom, being called a genius is nice. But I do have to say that youre signature was my inspiration, so I cannae take all the credit.

But thanks again, it's nice to be appreciated.

I do admit Tom does come off as a "know it all", and always seems to pat himself on the back everytime he posts. But then again Jumkie, Rog, and Pete you're all just bullies anyways so I see nothing wrong with Tom standing up to you all.
