Agreed that Stoners talent is unique. However, Biaggi was not 'fighting for wins' and got 1 podium at Sepang on a bike that goes well there and he also got a private 2 day test at that very circuit the week before the WSBK.

IF Stoner got a private 2 day test on a GP16 at PI a week before the race, I'd bet the house on him getting a podium.

From 2007 thru 2012, there were 162 laps completed at Phillip Island in the actual MotoGP race.

Casey led 160 of 162 of those laps.

The two laps he did not lead were the first lap of the 2009 and 2012 race.

With 2 days of private testing at PI he would win the 2016 race.

I wouldn't agree that Stoners talent is unique as there's others out there who have performed at least as well in the class and also very much better in the smaller classes.
I'm more interested in seeing how he manages the 1000cc Duc as all his experience on the Ducati was the smaller, and better performing 800..
Tyres will be same for all so less of an issue I think.
GL, MM, VR and CS on the same track would be something to look forward to even if they are all at different stages in their careers.
Other riders performed at least as well in the class while on the Ducati? Who would that be, Rossi, when he rode the better performing 800 Ducati?
Interesting.
Agree though I'm curious to see how he'd go on Michelins on the Duc.

Ah I was referring to his talent on any bike as I did not think that the original comment intended to imply that his talent was only on the Ducati. My bad if I picked that up wrong. I'm not saying he's not talented, just that his talent certainly isn't unique.

No worries.

The topic is Stoners return to Ducati. Speculation is how he might perform as a Ducati wildcard. Could he win a race yes or no. I'm not to bothered how he did in the smaller classes, is that relevent?

I'm interested in how he goes on the current Duc, because what he has achieved previously on the Duc is in fact unique. Certainly, unique.

Certainly.

Hi Guys,

I've been busy with work travel, so no time to sit and write back.....though it seems some of you may still be on holiday given the amount of time you spend on here....that aside...

My post was in no way outrage....i just think its very funny Casey's using the media to try and psych out the guy who took his old job and overshadowed his legacy...sounds like Casey is jealous

Regarding the "Incident"...Rossi drove MM off the racing line, which is not allowed, and Rossi go punished as per the rules at the time.....i dont know if Rossi 'kicked' MM's brake since HRC hasnt released the telemetry data like they said they would do.....Rossi paid for it, lost the title, and will keep the points on his license into 2016....until the rules change.....so he got what he deserved...

Finally, I think 2016 is going to be even better than last year.....
- I dont see MM doing very well if HRC cant control the power of that engine, - I dont see JLo being able to run away with a race like he likes to do, due to the new Michelins maybe not giving that same feel he needs to ride well.
- I dont see Rossi winning the title, but I think he'll adjust and be runner up for the title
- I dont see Casey doing any significant development for Ducati, and his 1 or 2 wild cards will show his time has passed...
And - I do see Dani having this last and best season at HRC....

Happy new year!

Hey Jums, did I call it or what?

Stoner on a Ducati, taking points from Rossi and costing him a championship would be storybook for sure.

F*ck no, please.

There would be different keyboards that will need replacing.

Some due to a fluid that was deposited, and yet others because of the damage done as the outraged pledged allegiance to the 'Wildcards shall not earn points' petition

Haha no kidding. Here is why I like Stoner. He is a no ........ kind of guy that says what he means and means what he says. Stoner's take on 2015 MotoGP season | MCN

As an Aussie I greatly appreciate the 'tell it like it is' approach, even though at times I believe there may be better ways to make a point or I may disagree, the approach is refreshing

EDIT
I saw that article and man, hasn't it caused the usual verbals in some of the forums (and I see your name in one at least) where people either intentionally or unintentionally read with their coloured bias and thus attack the messanger

Can't wait to see Casey wildcarding and ragging that Ducati around the island. Hope Rossi doesn't expect him to "race his own race and stay out of the way"....

And here he is, in an unnatural environment (for an Aussie) with some bloke called Ben and the girls - sure seems stressed about the decision (not)

Thanks for the photo. Great to see the two of them just chillin'. I miss Spies as a racer and am glad to see him looking well and content.

MotoGP: Jorge Lorenzo believes Casey Stoner will race in selected grand prix as a wildcard for Ducati

“I have seen very few, if any, riders with the natural talent of Casey, to be fast right away with any bike and in all weather conditions,” Lorenzo said.

“It would be great news for everyone if Casey were to decide to come compete again. MotoGP is very difficult, many riders are fighting for victory, but having Casey back would be amazing.

“Hopefully he decides to return.”

This season will be interesting, stoked on the positive vibes from JLo.
