Suzi Perry has just tweeted that Ben Spies has been confirmed to stay with yamaha for 2 years and in WSB for 1 year...

EDIT: "The press release is slightly ambiguous in that it uses the word 'foresees' Yamaha foresees a season a season in 2010 with WSB...." copied straight from Mrs Perry's tweet. How vague...

An unlikely scenario on a Tech Trois hand me down.

Glad this has been taken care of now. Spies can get back to business and focus on WSBK and everyone else on the rumor mill can go back to their reqularly scheduled program.

Spies heads for MotoGP

(UKPA) – 1 hour ago

Ben Spies has reached an agreement with current employers Yamaha which will see him move from the FIM Superbike World Championship to the FIM MotoGP World Championship in 2011.

Spies, who lies second in the current Superbike World Championship, will stay where he is for next season before joining Yamaha's satellite MotoGP team in 2011.

Spies said: "I am very happy to say that I will remain a part of the Yamaha family, and that I will continue in the WSB series for 2010.

"This is an exciting period of my racing career and I look forward now even more.

"Yamaha has been great in the warm welcome that I have received entering the world arena and I want to thank them for all they have done, and for giving me their trust for a next career step into MotoGP in 2011."

And with this news another "silly season" comes to a conclusion. Tune in next year, same bat time..same bat channel.

Good move, imo. Yamaha look to be a bit worried about the engine regs for next year and the riders have already complained that the engine is extremely weak. Spies really needs to have a world title in the bag before he makes the jump to MotoGP. He's too good not to notch a couple in WSBK.

Yes, Keshav (in response to the other thread), I have noticed that Spies is a little stick figure. I actually noticed it last year in the AMA. He looked like he was slimming down for European competition.
