Hope so...he didn't really comment on his chances, but he had only done three laps on a scooter at that point.

I do not expect a whole much from him, as this track is nothing like he has seen in the US. But a point is almost guarenteed with the D'Antin bikes and RDP.

Prototype GP bike; unfamiliar tyres; new circuit (notoriously difficult to learn); .... English summer....3rd row -respect!

Yes. That was a great performance. I was expecting him to be down towards the bottom again.

GO SPIES!!! God I hope he gets a ride for next season. At this rate I think his chances are looking pretty good.

Also, if he can run like that on an unfamiliar circuit/bike in the wet, just imagine what he's gonna look like at Laguna when neither will be unfamiliar.

With the current situation of Spies and how the ...-m-a are about to ruin superbike racing in america I think his chance is now and with a better team than Suzuki. The whole ducati thing is getting intresting and a real shame. I was hoping and almost expecting Melandri to be winning and up on the podium. So Hayden or now even Spies could be a Ducati factory rider. That would be great for either of them and Ducati since they sell shitloads of bikes there. Oh yeah WAY TO GO CASEY!!!

One thing Spies definately did this weekend was light a fire under Hayden and Hopeless's arses. Both pushed hard in qualifying, and looked like guys with a point to prove. Unfortunately, Hayden ran out of puff during the race, and Hopkin's bike got fed up with getting the blame all the time and went to sleep. Or maybe it was just bored.

Anyhoo, Spies did himself no harm this weekend, and may just give some other Americans a few sleepless nights.

Pete

I'm not taking anything away from Spies and I liked his attitude and approach to Donington this weekend, but after being runner-up (I think), winning two AMA championships back-to-back and leading it this year, Spies is used to winning and being at the sharp end so how will he cope mentally on a mid-pack bike in MotoGP.

he'll do what he did at Donny..get faster as the race goes on

even if Loris is back for Assen, IMO Spies should get a third GSV-R to race on. a good learning experience for him and will be very beneficial for laguna. he showed that he has the right mental attitude and should get better every time he goes out on the bike.

Spies looks to have a successful career in Moto GP IF he get a good factory ride. He is pretty good overall and I think can make the adjustments necessary to be at the top. I just think his riding style will have to change in order for him to really be a contender.

I wish he is riding a factory Yamaha or Honda next year. Don't waste another Superbike rider in GP

NAY, Suzi should improve their bikes,

He started off pretty well, went a little backwards towards the end.
At least he knows how difficult motogp is and he can work hard and come back.

I actually saw it the complete opposite and so did Spies although he got 0 coverage on Speed so really I am just going off what him, his team and his times are saying.

Its easy to get within a second. Its shaving of that last half of a second that will be really difficult if he can do it all. Like he said, the bikes are easy to ride but hard to ride fast. I don't thinkn that he will have a problem with the consistency part.

He was racing with Elias and Melandri when Elias went past him on lap 8, so perhaps just battling it out with them caused him to lose some time. Elias was faster, and rode away, something happened to Melandri on lap 10 which left Spies on his own.

I think his face looked something like this at some point during the race..

Or maybe I just wanted an excuse to post that.
