Not as flat as Silver though...at least Assen has/had flowing corners and some banked... Silver as far as i remember was flat all the way round.

I think you'll be pleasantly surprised Curve. I like Silverstone, it's bloody fast and it flows, just as a traditional race circuit should. The main misgiving everyone had was that ..... chicane at Woodcote which was obviously put in to slow the bikes down. WSB teams at one stage reported actually lowering the tickover on the bikes to get through it was so tight. Now that they've increased the run off it doesn't need to be there and Woodcote can go back to being the awesome corner it once was. Last time I was there was 2002 I think, when it pissed it down and Bayliss came off twice in the first race. I watched from Luffield because you could see the screens. That's the other misgiving people have, it really isn't a spectators circuit like Doni but the new Grandstands and infield development can only help that. Donington really has suffered over the years through a lack of development, and although the first two thirds of the track are amongst the best on earth, it hasn't really produced really memorable racing in the big class for years. I'm completely with you on the lack of relief - Silverstone is completely flat, apart from a slight downhill section at bridge, and it was the section from Redgate to Coppice that really made Doni.

As many have commented - just as they revamp Donington, and stick in that really interesting downhill section proposed for the infield (where the off-road track currently is), it gets snatched away to Siverstone. It was only 26 miles away from where I live to make matters worse.

Assen - particularly old Assen was/is so special because of the way the corners build and the way it is so beautifully cambered. Is there any bike racing enthusiast on the planet, rider or spectator, that didn't like Old Assen? When it was butchered, one Spanish journalist summed it up brilliantly by saying its like cropping a Rembrandt and sticking it in a clip frame.

i'll take the lack of hills so long as they ditch that ..... chicane

how many crashes when BSB first raced it ! ? !

"and the award for the most half arsed poorly concieved section of track on the planet goes too........"

Like I say, thankfully the chicane will be history -(wish they'd fix Monza too). Looking at the track map again, looks like they no longer enter Luffield via Bridge, but turn on to the International circuit (heading in the opposite direction towards Becketts), and loop back via this new Arrowhead Section. Thank God they are employing the Historic GP circuit and not the ...... go kart national circuit that is currently employed in WSB.- I love the Club/Stowe corner into the Hanger straight, and we saw some cracking WSB races on the full GP circuit before they reverted to the shorter National one. As I have said innumerable times Silverstone is a fast, flowing circuit and I'm confident it'll produce great racing - I welcome the change, even though Doni is the spiritual home of bike racing in Engand, but I accept that I'm in the minority here.

From what i have read it looks like Silverstone actually listened to what people have been saying. Spectator banks & moving grandstands closer to the track. I'm looking forward to seeing how it pans out. I think Donington has had it's day.
