That quality at that price is ridiculous. Needless to say, I won`t be buying Apple again

I'm an Apple guy. The iPod has some quirks but it really depends on which model it is and how old. How old is it richo?

you're better off buying a Creative, they can fit more songs, mainly cheaper and are better looking

I`m no expert on them Ooost but I can tell you its 20 GB, colour screen and it can`t do movies or video confrence or whatever you call it. I bought it just over 6 months ago and it`s been replaced (Apparently theyre too fiddly to repair, they just bin it and give you a new one) with the same model twice since.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (BEN @ Jun 7 2006, 10:38 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><div class='quotemain'>Ipods are made in the far east (well mine was)......

Mine`s gt a big MADE IN CALIFORNIA stamp on the back.

Anyway in my opinion they`re too expensive to have the quirks that are the trademark of cheap electronics. I think it`s bad business and I`ve lost all the trust I had in Apple. That`s why I wont be using my hard earned cash to buy Apple products anymore, there`s just no garuntee that they`re reliable for me. The Ipod was the first (and last) apple product I`ve ever bought. And you know what they say, once bitten, twice shy.

That's very odd, I thought they had sorted all of the quirks with the new ones. I bought mine just under two years ago so I don't have a color screen or any of those nice features but it does have a 20 gig drive and I have had to replace it once as it would repeatedly upload songs I had so my space dwindled down to nothing. Like Ben's, mine was made in China as it was engraved so it had to be shipped direct from there. I didn't know they were even producing anything in California anymore. I'm going to have to do some research there. I'm sorry that your iPod doesn't work well richo. I've been an Apple guy my whole life and I'm very proud of their products as it takes a very strong company to combat Microsoft. I hate to hear it when people say they won't buy Apple anymore or won't buy it period. They have a very delicate niche in the computer and electronics market, producing faulty goods will only drive consumers away and I hope that doesn't continue.

i got one from years ago, like yours Ooost with no colour screens or anything fancy. and it says it was designed in California and assembled in China...

either way, as a consumer with no brand loyalties (Until it comes to bikes, tyres, exhausts, ect.) I`m gonna go with whatever`s best, and I`m not trusting Apple anymore. And for the record, as far as I know, Microsoft don`t make MP3 Players, I`m looking into what companies like Sony have to offer instead.

I know you're a Kawasaki guy but who are you loyal to when it comes to tires and exhaust?

Depends, obviously Michelin are the best tyres in existance, but I admire the way Bridgestone try (Sometimes) and Dunlop superbike tyres aren`t too bad. For my bike, though, definately Michelins, although the new Dunlop Qualifyers are tempting....
As for exhausts, Termi`s got their name on some of the fastest bikes on the planet, but on a real world level, Yoshimura for quality and performance. And they make go-go bits for the bike`s guts too.

Good call on the Michelins, I'm a Michelin man myself. As far as exhausts go, Termi's are very tempting but I really like what Akrapovic have been doing. They put their stuff on some very fast rides.

I`ve been told Akrapovic are the best, but apart from their great track record, Yoshimura just feels right to me. Maybe Termi`s If i had a Duke, just to keep it all-Italian but I`m no millionare. Yoshi all the way.

My Ipod says says designed in California made in China. It works fine so far. It's the old version (4GB no colour screen).

This is the first Apple product I bought, I had a cheap MP3 player which was crap (first the memory didn't work so I had to use a mem-card and finally the battery compartment couldn't be locked, the battery had to be strapped into the MP3 with tape

)
So I'm happy with my Ipod.

With computers it's different I've had very reliable PCs, so I don't consider buying a more expensive Apple computer which has less programs available. So I'm sticking with PC clones.
