Rossi to test GP12 at Jerez

They say the engine will still be a partially stressed member, so it's not a deltabox.

Kropotkin: GPOne states that the engine is a partially-stressed member of the chassis. This contradicts what you're saying, so perhaps you could clarify the confusion.

I thought partially stressed was the norm on road and race bikes these days?

I thought I read it was a traditional twin spar at the front but connected at the rear by the motor. Would that not make the motor a partially stressed member?

Hope it works for them.

Yeah, that's what I've read from GPOne.

" It won't exactly be a Deltabox design (a twin spar frame that is closed on both ends), but rather a twin beam aluminum frame that does not connect to itself in the rear (have a rear cross-member). This is a fairly big departure from recent Ducati designs, but it would continue to use the engine as a semi-stressed chassis member."

Not that I know of - at least for Japanese bikes. if you know of an example, let me know.

I was under the impression that normal bikes, like say a CBR600 would use the engine as a partially stressed member

You are correct! Even my '73 CB500 uses the engine as a partially stressed member. Racing guys will even sleeve the mounts or use larger bolts to take even further play out.

Didn't know it went that far back, but that's what i'm talking about, glad i'm not going mad!
