Rossi: surgery done!

Joint/ligament/tendon injuries are chancy things though as we have discussed all along, and may not have a 100% outcome however perfect the medical care. It is rumoured (?by kropotkin) that he is unhappy with Dr Costa's initial assessment and advice though.

it would be interesting to know how Costa got involved in the intial assesment as the injury occured in training and the motegi round was then postponed. VR must have had big faith in Costa to request consultation far from the paddock.

I did say it was rumoured, not by me but by the two most well informed posters on this forum, kropotkin and j4rno (see posts 8, 15 and 16 on this thread).

I can only speculate on when and how costa may have gotten involved, perhaps j4rno who seems to know nearly everything concerning the italian side of motogp may be able to tell you. As I have said, soft tissue injuries are tricky, and even with modern technology like MRI the true extent of injury may only be apparent at surgery as was apparently the case here. Physiological freaks like valentino can probably put up with pain and work around injuries that would stop mortal men in their tracks, and with a shoulder injury you can still walk and as the arm was still attached to the body I imagine valentino could have delayed definitive assessment of the injury until he got home, unlike if he had a fracture.
