Yes in MMA it was around 2012 right?

I think it was a bit more recent than that but I can’t remember exactly when. The differences between the sports though could mean that something like TRT isn’t as beneficial.

Not sure.

Everyone seems to be saying how demanding it is to win on a MotoGP bike now.

Having the testosterone and ability to recover of a 25 year old should be beneficial whatever sport you do.

Of course it’s great for being able to train more often etc. but I’m not sure it would have the same advantages as it does in a sport where you rely solely on your body. That was the point that I was making. Of course the ability to train more due to better recovery is an advantage no matter the sport and dare I say even if you aren’t playing sport.

Of course to take advantage of the TRT you need to be willing to train to exhaustion nearly every day as many top athletes do. IIRC Rossi isn’t a huge fan of training off the bike but as Cal has already mentioned the guys on the Yamahas don’t get off looking like they’ve worked as hard as Marquez post race.

IIRC the fall off in reaction time from 25-40 isn’t as big as you would think but in other sports before an athletes mind gives up their body does because of the wear and tear that professional athletes have on their body.

Yeah true I guess.

Dan Henderson's wear and tear isn't the same a Rossi's (or any other riders) for example that is for sure.

Yeah but what about that rear tire they always give to Rossi, it wears off and has no grip.

Suddenly the yamaha is not good enough. With Honda, I might have broken Agostini's record.

What a ....... ....!!!!

I can read Spanish and as I was reading down the article I could feel the fumes coming out of my head.

I rage quitted at 2008 Laguna Seca where he is ....... proud of cheating and getting unfair advantages.

Damn it!!

pardon my language guys but dammit!!

He even said the Yamaha was a turd when he moved completely avoiding mentioning how the bike was re-hashed into a killer bike with the new engine.

I mean, Colin Edwards was easily keeping up with him in many races, not beating Rossi but he was deffo ahead of the others on the field for the most part. You don't do that on a turd bike,

He's already cooking the narrative for when Marquez surpasses him in titles. He's so insecure it hurts

If he is disaffected with Yamaha which he seems to be showing signs of being I am not sure where it will leave him in his retirement, I doubt Honda will welcome him back as a Honda icon.

He will have to withdraw all copies of that book. I have an idea in regard to a title for a book about his career post 2010, he should call it “how to trash an unassailable reputation”.

If I remember correctly he slammed the door behind him when he left Honda, and Honda remembered it when he tried to come back and asked for a ride. He was offered a satellite bike - which he rejected. I stand corrected.

So I guess what he is saying is. Honda was right when they said it's their bike that made him successful....

Rossi new book after retirement, “ What if I had kept my big mouth shut “.

Not in the real word, no. In real world you can get away with b/s. He can write how he had to fight organized Spanish vendetta against him and there will be no shortage of believers.

An interesting interview, especially the part where Valentino was asked how he managed to maintain his competitiveness over the years.

He described the riders being fitter, more disciplined regarding caring for their body (sleep and diet), as well as more detailed race preparations. It was funny when he mentioned having to go to doctors asking what best to eat etc.

The same very likely applies to race engineers as the technology improves and evolves. The engineers have to keep abreast and also change their own attitude towards the level of attention to the ever growing details. This may well be why Rossi has felt the need/desire to change race engineers.

There's no doubt that his age is playing a roll in his waining competitiveness but it's likely multi-faceted.

I think it is mostly (perhaps entirely) his age, which includes perhaps not adapting as well as someone younger to changes in the sport, and in the technology in particular, having developed his riding style with different technology. He may actually not be as good as MM period, hardly a knock on him, but I think he would be ahead of the other 25 year olds if he was 25 and had come up with the current technology.

On the other hand I remain to be convinced moto 3 and moto 2 are good formulae for developing premier class riders, even MM started in gp bike racing on a real race bike, a 125.

4th last weekend. Man this guy really sucks.

Actually for someone like Valentino Rossi with 7 premier class titles and 89 premier class wins 4th being the best he can hope for in a good week is sucking, as it would be for MM. He obviously is sucking to a considerably lesser degree than Lorenzo though.

Time waits for no-one.

Lorenzo would go into no-suck mode on a different bike. (Not that he will be given that opportunity.) Rossi needs enormous luck to make it to the podium in Valencia.
