Times of changes for Valentino Rossi.
It is not only from Michelin to Bridgestone. Gibo Badioli, the man who has been taking care of literally everything for Vale since 1997, has been sacked.

He was the founder of Great White London, the British firm managing the Rossi empire, whose CEO was Marc Canela, the Spaniard ex-logistics manager for Yamaha MotoGP.

Of course this is related with the income tax investigations under way, for which Badioli cannot deny personal responsibility. The public image of the 7 time World Champ took a dive after that, and has not recovered yet.

So an image refresher and a new style of management are called for. Who will the next manager be? Probably Davide Brivio, Rossi's current team manager at Yamaha. Asked by Italian journalists Brivio answered, 'Why not?'

I think it is time Rossi grows up, so these are maybe good signs. Next sign I'm waiting for is - yes, you guessed right! - the sacking of Uccio!!!

I always liked Yamaha. Country folks compared to Honda, but really innovative. They were the pioneers of the 2 stroke era, first with the legendary 250 4 cylinders rotating disk 2-strokes, then with the reed valve engines. With Saarinen and others they could beat MV and Honda's 4-stroke bikes in the 350cc class with twin-cylinder reed-valve bikes derived from stock... they also introduced the rear mono-shock in modern GP bikes, and invented the deltabox frame.

They got stuck somewhere and seem to have lost their creativity... After the Doohan-Honda era, they never shined again until Brivio managed to lure Rossi their way. I suspect they invested all money on Rossi and forgot about bike development. Their failure with the pneumatic valve engine is embarassing.

I hope they react in style and make a great, cutting-edge bike for 2008...

Well, isn't that why Rossi moved to them in the first place?

If you mean the manager Badioli, Rossi never moved to him, he has been his only manager since 1997, i.e. since his beginning.
If you mean Yamaha, Rossi did not move to Yamaha to find the best bike. He already had it (Honda).

the wheels are really starting to fall off. whos next? burgess?

I am still hoping he will dump Uccio et al. - Burgess is way too good to do without, unless he's tired or disgruntled or both...

Luckily JB didn't seem tired or disgruntled when Suzi interviewed him for the BBC on the grid at Sepang. He was talking about looking forward to new challenges re the tyres thing.

I do agree tho' - he's way too good to do without.

Tea-bagged? Actually I used to travel from race to race with a group of Irish racers and they always referred to the Brits as "fookin' teabags".

Rossi is a grown man, i'm sure he doesn't need 'strokin' not from Uccio anyway.
