Rossi, Ducati rumours heat up ?

At this point win or lose the money rolls in, he's not even in attendence right now & the money is rolling in. They sold out of Rossi t-shirts at Mugello & Silverstone, I can't speak for Assen. Surely if it is a boadroom they have to convince then financial viability is all that will be taken into consideration?



Attendance is a measure of tickets sold - money going to Dorna, not Yamaha. T-shirt sales (for what they're worth)

go directly to Rossi and are allegedly forked over to his favorite charity (Uccio?).

Be yee all of little faith aware..Mick Doohan was OLDER than Rossi when he took his 5 world titles AFTER his big crash where he almost lost a leg and went on to use a thumb lever for a rear brake... Unknown indeed.

The news on his leg sounds really good and he should be well past the main risk which was infection. I don't know scientifically whether the evidence for hyperbaric therapy is strong but he seems to doing everything possible to be back as soon as possible. He could perhaps be a little impaired for the remainder of this year but should be fine next year as was the case with mark webber with a similar injury, although mark's judgement does not appear to have improved. Doohan had a much worse injury as you say and his initial surgery was botched.



Saying that I still agree with j4rno that there is now some chance rather than no chance that he will leave yamaha, partly because of the ego possessed anyone as successful as he has been in sport ; if you are riding to extend your record as the best ever your team not recognising you as the best in the team might be a little annoying.

However , and he has said so quite a few times, his main gripe seems to be that jorge is getting a free ride on the back of his developmental ability, and in this respect doohan was again similar.
 
.... it, i say Rossi defects to WSBK and brings Spies, Stoner, Nick, Edwards, Simocheller, and Pedro over with him..

The only argument I would give to this is that we don't get WSBK on free to air TV here........... otherwise what an awesome spectacle!

Keshav, I agree with what you say, but this preoccupation about the rossifans is so funny... Really, if Rossi could pull that one off, your main preoccupation would be the boppers? -- Why not simply enjoy what would be an incredible season...

what an immense challenge it would be. An incredible season... undoubtedly, especially with Lorenzo on "Rossi's bike" and Stoner battling them both on a Honda. A fantasy season wet dream.



Funny how during the off-season we all go nuts speculating about the season to come

and then two or three races into the season, we're all talking about how maybe next

season will be the one with real magic.

Probably due to the disappointment each season brings in regards to racing. It is so easy to fantasise that the next season will be more exciting when excitement in the current season in non existent.



Have the FIM confirmed whether the 2010 MotoGP Championship will even be considered a World Championship with only 17 riders, one less than the minimum 18 riders?

is not great enough to leverage Yamaha into bowing to his demands ie: being Rider # One and

I don't think Hayden had anything to do with the development of this bike. He complained quietly but consistently that the Ducati had no throttle "connection" whatsoever with the screamer engine. That problem has been addressed with the big bang configuration and the new software management. Nick can develop a bike, but he's said this season that the bike isn't significantly different, he just has a better understanding of how it works.



The Ducati still needs a lot of work. Everyone at Eurosport was reporting that the bike is actually too easy on the tires which is preventing the riders from generating the necessary heat (hence the soft compound on the rear tire in the last 2 races). At some point they will have to make some additional chassis modifications to get things working properly. Hayden's size and his reputation for torturing tires is actually coming in handy. It's not working out so well for Casey.



I'd bet Rossi to Ducati - hopefully with JB, but if not ,then without him.

That is correct, he said the same thing on Australian broadcast of silverstone race.

After his talk I was left wondering what Rossi would do, and hence JB. JB himself seemed pretty "up in the air about the future".

"Win on Sunday - Sell on Monday"?



When Lawson and Rainey were winning races on Kawasaki - GPZ1100s were flying

out the dealership doors. No championships - means no sponsors = no racing budget

and greatly diminished sales.



With Spies and Mladin gone - and no championships - Suzuki couldn't even afford to

bring the 2010 GSXRs into the US dealers, because demand dropped so drastically.

Yes the economy has been .... - but it hasn't stopped Honda and Yamaha from importing

all their projected US spec 2010 models.



What part of winning championships = selling more bikes don't you get?

Valentino Rossi’s legendary Australian crew chief Jerry Burgess is hoping intense speculation linking the Italian with a lucrative move to Ducati in 2011 doesn’t see him quit Yamaha.



The Rossi to Ducati rumour gained serious momentum in Assen last weekend, with some insiders revealing the big money switch was a done deal.



Aussie Burgess seems against moving to the Bologna factory having been a key component of Rossi’s successful switch to Yamaha in 2004.



When Rossi quit Honda at the end of 2003, Yamaha was in turmoil and its YZR-M1 was woefully uncompetitive against the factory RC211V 990cc machine that the 31-year-old and Burgess developed for HRC.



But Rossi and Burgess were able to instantly transform Yamaha into the dominant force in MotoGP.



Yamaha remains the most successful and powerful factory in MotoGP, with Rossi winning the last two world titles and Jorge Lorenzo currently strolling to the 2010 crown.



But Burgess is reluctant to see Rossi, who is currently sidelined with a broken leg, move to Ducati in 2011 and said: "My only plan is that I see myself working with Valentino at Yamaha until he stops racing bikes.



"I have anticipated for a while that Valentino would renew his contract there, or go to F1 if the third Ferrari is possible, but I don't know if anything has changed that.



"I enjoy working at Yamaha and it has been the most enjoyable period of my whole career in Grand Prix racing.



"I see no reason for me, and I hope Valentino, to walk away from seven years of successful work."
