Interesting. I'm guessing he could probably beat the KR bikes. Smart move on Kawasaki's part putting an American in as a wild card, more exposure for them no matter the outcome.

I know I saw comments about this on another thread but can't find it.

Anyway, good luck Roger Lee.

It would be good to see him do well but im not expecting much.I dont really think it will cause as much a stir as Duhamel being on the grid because Roger Lee hasnt learned to be fan friendly like his big bro and Duhamel. Most fans that cheer for him do so as Kawasaki loyalist.Nicky was a different story,he had a cult following that was like a traveling circus and they banded together at the track in bunches. This does remind me of a AMA Flat Track race a few years back where the Hayden brothers
Nicky,Tommy, and Roger Lee,entered for ..... and giggles and finished 1-2-3.Their roots were deep in flat track racing and a lot of their training for road racing was flat tracking [explains the riding style] but they hadnt run a race on dirt in years. To go out and beat the best on a whim left everyone slack jawed

I don't think so man, remember, he is the youngest and has raced in the shadow of his two older brothers who have won AMA championships. He came runner up twice and that was to big brother. I think he has his own following, it’s just smaller because the Hayden fans are spread three ways. He will get his.

report on autosport.com that there is possibility that this might be a regular occurance for Kawasaki to run three bikes

http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/60719

The last sentence on the Gp website was about the possibility of running 3 bikes next season. This could be an opportunity of a life time for Roger Lee if Kawasaki is thinking in those directions.More of an audition maybe.

The likelihood is that Capirossi is going to Kawasaki (MCN UK) since Melandri should be announced as a Ducati rider for 2008 by Laguna Seca. This would make Hopper, Capirossi and DePuniet the 3 man Team Green...R.Hayden is getting this as a thanks for his thankless task of trying to race the Kawasaki in the AMA, and not so much an audition. On the other hand if RH out performs Capirossi (likely) and DePuniet (not so likely) then he could get the offer.

Ant West has more chance of the ride in 08 than Roger does.. You seem to have forgotten him migs..

I could only hope but I doubt it. Roger Lee still has a few more years to prove himself in the AMA. Though don't expect him to win a championship on team green until they change the Suzuki Cup rules.

If I was Team Green in MotoGP, I might hold on to West and see how he pans out the rest of the season. If its fair, I would give him the shot. And this is coming form not just a Nicky Hayden fan, but a Hayden Clan fan.

But then again, considering that Hopkins never won a Superbike championship (only Formula Extreme) and he was plucked at a young age from the AMA, he seems to be doing well. So maybe they should offer Roger another wild card in Valencia.

Remember though, Hopkins was 18 when he made the jump. Roger is 24.

What are the chances of Roger beaten Nicky at Laguna Seca?

Keep in mind the Honda has been inconsistent and crap most of the season, and Nicky has not been getting getting the best out of the bike, except for Assen so far.

And how bad would it be for Honda, Repsol and Nicky if Roger did end up higher in the order?

Now that would be funny! ill be cheering for roger to beat nicky at laguna just imagine family dinners afterwards haha

Pffffft, as if theyre going to employ RLH after one performance when West has been consistantly imressive so far.. I expect Roger to beat Ant this weekend, if he doesnt, something is wrong.. He knows the track like the back of his hand and Ant's never been.. Its easier to learn a bike than it is a track IMO..

WEST TO DANTIN
<

I actually think Westy and Dantin would be a good match! The Ducati is a good bike and he would have to be the #1 rider ... presuming they get rid of Barros ...

Given the way the silly season is shaping at the moment, I'm sure if Dantin offered him a contract for next year he would probably take it ...IMO!

I assume he brings more money to the team. If he does well then they should throw him another ride at the final round. A European race will really test his ability and negate any home ground advantage.

“He went to Japan to get a feel for it and he was really impressed with the bike, he could not believe how smooth it was, how easy it is to ride.”

This of course is until he has to push it to keep up with some of the top riders in the world. I think he'll do ok this weekend, but as others have noted in the Laguna Predictions thread the home ground advantage should be considerably less given this is its third year on the calendar. 10th for RLH

I'm sure Roger Lee would be happy with 10th, but I think your being too kind...just outside of the top 10 is how I would see it. I hope this is an audition of sorts for a WSBK ride ? Too bad Spies won't have an audtion of this sort, I think he would be another good WSBK rider.

Pffffff, as if that mattered for West in WSBK Supersport.

But I'm rooting for Roger Lee!
