A little early, but some big news, at least to me. It seems Monza has modified the very slow right left chicane at the end of the front straight. That was ONE spot the Ducati seemed to really be able to make time in the past.. This is a huge adjustment to the track..

Monza, like the previous circuit of Assen in the Netherlands, is an iconic venue, and one that has high average speed at the centre of its character, despite the presence of several chicanes to slow down the 200bhp-plus World Superbike machines.

A classic venue in every sense, Monza is an essential stopping off point for any fan that wishes to understand the passion and heritage that underpins Italian Motorsport.

The first chicane has been altered for this year’s race, making it a faster and more flowing section, which is expected to take the times down between 1.5 and two seconds per lap.

My picks

Race 1

Biaggi

Rea

Haslam

Race 2

Rea

Haslam

Biaggi

The same chicane that brought Max Neukirchner's career to a halt? Monza is one of my favorite tracks, but a change to those terrible chicanes is certainly welcome. I'm anxious to see how this change plays out. As it was before, it was one of the worst corners in all racing for a turn 1 at race start.

Fabrizio was fastest at the recent test in Misano, but Haga was ill. Rea coming off a double win. Haslam consistently fast all year. Biaggi is back on home turf and Camier has been showing some amazing speed on the Aprilia. Corser seems to be on a roll and really happy with his BMW. Checa has been up there all year. Toseland had a great weekend at Assen. This one is going to be hard to call.

Sure to go down to the last lap/corner in at least one of the races.

R1

1. Haslam

2. Biaggi

3. Corser

R2

1. Corser

2. Toseland

3. Camier

The worst thing about WSBK at the moment is making picks! There are at least 10 or 11 riders that can podium on any given day

Good call. That was a horendous crash last year and seems to happen every year at that chicane. The first corner of every track is a bit sketchy but this one takes the cake. Im very interested to see what they have done as Monza is one of my favorite tracks that I someday wish to go check out.

Picks, man its tough. I really want to stick to the Ducati squad as 1-2 but they haven't been anywhere all year. Here it goes anyway

Haga

Haslem

Fabrizio

Fabrizio

Rea

Haga

My heart would really like to see Corser up on the podium. People I would also like to see do well, Camier, Biagii, and Roger Hayden

Want to see Rea, Biaggi, Haslam, and Toseland battle this weekend.

Pulling for Biaggi!

Just looked up the speeds since Monza has that long ... straight. Biaggi's little Aprilia hit 203 mph to top thr speed chart

Superpole Tomorrow

Haga seems like a broke rider, 2 seconds off pace. Age and everything that goes with it seems to have caught up to him overnight

Times are down from FP1? Wet track, temp change?

Crutchlow putting in his one off fast laps or does he have consistent pace this time? Toesland is almost 1.5 sec off Crutchlow's fastest.

With exception of Fabrizio, it looks like most of the usual suspect Ducati's are struggling. New corner changes having some effect?

BMW, Corser is right up there again, If he picks up front row on Superpole day, he could very well get the holeshot again and lead the race. I expect another good weekend from him, but will he last race distance. Xaus is looking pretty good, a top 8 finish would be nice if he can manage to keep it on track.

Rea, Haslam, they're going to be right up there come race day.

Spies said the new Yamaha is better than his from last year, but he was taking .... for not developing the bike at all
laugh.gif

Haga, man, I really wanted him to do well. I wonder if Ducati pulled the pin on him. I still have faith for him come race day.

I also really want to see Corser rewarded for all the hard work they put in. That would be awesome.

Rodger Lee needs a 600

Fabrizio, Rea, Haslem look really strong

Im not sold on Crutchlow, it seems he can throw down the quick lap, but has a problem with putting a race together.

I love Monza. What a great track.

I would guess heat change, not enough difference for a wet track.

I guessed in the opening topic that the new chican would have an affect on the Ducati, since the old layout was almost stop and go and really favored the acceleration of the Ducati
