1. Valentino
2. Casey
3. Dani
4. Nicky
5. JT
6. Lorenzo
7. Marco
8. Hopper
9. Dovi
10. CV
11. West
12. Loris
13. Randy
14. Shinya

DAMN! That was hard. ALL the riders and bikes are fast this year.

Everyone from 5+ can be interchangeable.

Hmmm. There's a big long straight at Qatar eh?

Remember Stoner last year - Rossi leading for the bulk of the lap then Casey indicating, pullng out and blitzing that rattly old Yam?

So for me it's Stoner all the way - but mainly because of that long drag over the start finish line.

Unless Yamaha fit some headlights to the M1 and one of their pit crew finds the circuit's fuse box of course....

Snorvey

1. Rossi
2. Stoner
3. Vicious Repsol battle for third, I think Dani may come out ahead because I'm not convinced Michelin have improved the grip of their harder compounds, and I think the temperature will be mild.

I'm anticipating a lot of good battles mid-pack as new riders on new bikes change positions as they make minor mistakes.

Here in the States we have baseball, statistics are keep for almost everything to expose some patterns. One of which are comparisons between night games and day games for individual statistics. I think the most intriguing element of the season opener will be the racing under the light and how this may effect the individual riders. This makes the predictions even more fascinating, so here are mine:

Heart Says:

Hayden
Hopkins
Capirossi

Mind Says:
Hayden
Stoner
Rossi

Night Factor says:
Hayden
Toseland
Guintoli/DePuniet
Stoner/Rossi
One of the new 250 guys

RJ brings up an interesting point with the night race. I'm curious how many of these guys have raced under the lights? I know Nicky has done a lot of racing under the lights in his dirt track days. Anyone know who else has raced under lights?

Well here is what I'm thinking (I realize its all speculation, but I figure I might as well think of a some kind of reason for make a fair prediction).

As L8brake mentioned, Hayden has some experience racing under night-lights. The reason I put Toseland as second is because he has impressed me on his quick adaptation to the GP bike. Obviously this is only based on testing, but I can't help but think he has a strong learning curve for the unfamiliar. Which is why I put Guintoli/Depuniet up on my list for night factors. They seemed to thrive on a difficult race condition in last year's French round. So maybe it can transfer to an unfamiliar race condition under lights. I have Rossi/Stoner up there because they are just good, period. The 250 guys are a wild card.

You never know what might be a factor but i cant see the night racing affecting anyone good or bad.The company [ Musco Sports Lighting] supplies lighting for all kinds of sporting events, including Nascar and they all say the company does a wonderful job.The Nascar guys were afraid of glare at first but after running a few laps they said it was close to perfect.I guess in some scientific anomaly the manufactured daylight could somehow .... with someones depth perception, but i doubt it.

I think rossi has raced at night on a factory bike before, but I not sure if there where lights step up or not (didn't see the race).
For me it's gonna end like this:

1. Rossi
2. Hayden
3. Stoner

The rest I'll make up the rest as the season goes along.

I think Hayden will surprise a few people.

1. Rossi
2. Hayden
3. Stoner

Could be close between Rossi and Hayden imo.

My look at it is near the oposite. As long as the wether is the "usual" (allthough I don't know the local conditions) the conditions should be better at night. Less wind, constant light.
But you have a point regarding day and night. The race starts at 2300 and even if they are a couple of hours ahead of europe it starts getting late and that might affect performance. In other words, a big advantage for the party lions

1. Rossi

1. R De Puniet.
2. Rossi
3. Pedrosa
4. Hayden
5. Stoner
6. Toseland
7. Lorenzo.
8. Caparossi

I Think we all need to consider the elements a night race in Qatar could throw at them. Low Temperatures, no sunlight, Sandstorms, Insects and other creatures attracted to the lights.
?????

as much as i wish it were not true, its going to be stoner...

the man loves qatar...

rookie season, he gets pole....
next season, he resists the attentions of a 7 time world champ for most of the race to win...

as for the rest, it will be amongst the riders who shine when the conditions are unknown or new.
that means that CV will be closer to the front than capirex and i hope that this means podiums for them...
but thats the heart talking...

JT will do well in qatar IMO but as the season progresses, he will drop down the field as every one gets upgrades and the satellite teams are left waiting for the summer holiday...good luck to him, he will need it...

mmm, interesting thought. What is the coefficient of friction of dead moths etc., and will the Bridgestones or the Michelins be better equipped....

more likely it will be missing the brake markers because of a visor full of moth juice....

Isn't this in the desert? Not many insects there I guess.
I would suspect the chanse for high winds are less than in the daytime? Again I don't have a clue about local conditions but usually local wether is works the way that sun heating up things and create winds and that these calm down at sunset. At least that's how it works in my part of the world and in Sinai, but I don't know about quatar. But if there is a storm comming all bets are off day or night, but that would make cansellation a real posibility and something we hope to avoid.
