Qatar test

7. Marco Melandri (Hayate) 1’59.493 (21 di 23)

If Melandri keep this up this season then last year will be forgotten very quickly; and he'll be hailed as a genius.

LOL.

Clark, Rog is just being funny, but really, Pinky (also Tamada) has several alias here. When I see them I'll let you know. They are easy to spot: obsessive Hayden hating.

3. Colin Edwards (Yamaha) 1’58.014 (23 di 29)

17. James Toseland (Yamaha) 2’00.234 (34 di 35)

This is gonna be fun.

Also,

4. Chris Vermeulen (Suzuki) 1’58.430 (14 di 18)
5. Loris Capirossi (Suzuki) 1’58.908 (21 di 21)

Cool, we have a meaningful constructor's championship between four brands now...for the moment.

This post has lots of meaningful insight. I like when the author explains his reasoning behind his theory that Hayden's times on the same bike as Melandri would be two to three seconds slower. There is a lot of evidence to support this theory. For example, Hayden is lapping about a second faster than Melandri did in comparison to Stoner...

Well if Ducati only have one useful rider then perhaps Honda should pack it in this season as Dovi and Pedrosa haven't topped Hayden yet.

kallio should be on factory duc. but hayden is more marketable, that's the reason why he spend 6 season on factory honda machine despite won only 3 gp in 99 starts.

I have a curious question.

Hayate means hurricane in Japanese. So does this mean the Japanese also spell it this way? (I know they don't, but I'm trying to understand their thinking). Why would they name the team an English version of the Japanese pronounced word and write it in the Latin alphabet? It seems a bit confusing for everybody, the Japanese are probably wondering what is "Hayate" since their language does not use the Latin based alphabet, therefore the phonetics mean nothing, right? (Think about this for a moment, if somebody used say the Vietnamese alphabet to write a word from their language in English, would you be able to decipher it? Why not just use the Japanese character meaning "Hurricane" like they do with the Hayabusa Japanese symbol which means "Falcon"? I don't know how to say "Falcon" in Japanese, but wouldn't it be strange to name a team that and use Latin/English letters to sound it out in Japanese? Seems crazy to me. I mean, what if the Japanese had an alphabet, would you understand how to pronounce a word using Jap symbols for an English pronunciation? Seems ........ to even think like that.

Any thoughts?

(c'mon, even though we are looking at a test, its still the off-season, so anything is fair game...)

Qatar MotoGP: Pedrosa falls, red flag. Stoner: Wrist improved
Shortly before 22, Losail, there was a nasty fall from Dani Pedrosa, the Spanish accident caused the exposure of the red flag and the subsequent stop the tests. Pedrosa was taken to the circuit medical center apprehended soon we give you more updates.

Meanwhile, Stoner Rossi has again jumped down to 1'57 "139 to two seconds from his best lap in the race of 2008. "Casey told me that the wrist is better than we expected," said Livio Suppo.

In the remaining two hours of testing, when you resume running after the red flag, Stoner will try - as already done by Hayden - the new carbon fiber rear swingarm.

Great leap forward by De Angelis, from 15th to sixth behind the couple in front of Suzuki and the team official Honda HRC.

On land also Mika Kallio, who has brought a lot of gravel on the track.

The time to 22 local

1. Casey Stoner (Ducati) 1’57.139 (23 di 30)
2. Valentino Rossi (Yamaha) 1’57.747 (39 di 39 giri)
3. Colin Edwards (Yamaha) 1’57.817 (35 di 37)
4. Chris Vermeulen (Suzuki) 1’58.018 (24 di 24)
5. Loris Capirossi (Suzuki) 1’58.264 (32 di 32)
6. Alex De Angelis (Honda) 1’58.441 (32 di 32)
7. Andrea Dovizioso (Honda) 1’58.589 (39 di 40)
8. Dani Pedrosa (Honda) 1’58.619 (25 di 27)
9. Nicky Hayden (Ducati) 1’59.194 (26 di 31)
10. Jorge Lorenzo (Yamaha) 1’59.258 (45 di 45)
11. Niccolò Canepa (Ducati) 1’59.266 (26 di 33)
12. Randy De Puniet (Honda) 1’59.270 (24 di 34)
13. Toni Elias (Honda) 1’59.396 (34 di 35)
14. Marco Melandri (Hayate) 1’59.493 (21 di 42)
15. Mika Kallio (Ducati) 1’59.764 (40 di 44)
16. Yuki Takahashi (Honda) 2’00.152 (32 di 39)
17. James Toseland (Yamaha) 2’00.234 (34 di 39)

6. Nicky Hayden (Ducati) 1’59.194 (26 di 26)
7. Andrea Dovizioso (Honda) 1’59.225 (26 di 26)

I think this can be a little more telling here. We saw these guys go neck and neck a few times last year, seeing Dovi scrape it out because he is easier on the tires. Many claimed Dovi to be better than Hayden, so really he should be lighting it up on his new factory machinery, not slower than Hayden. They are supposedly, both on new bikes and tires, so I think if Hayden can keep up the learning curve and stay with Dovi he will be just fine.

They already do this on the Hayabusa GSXR.
