Not quite what I would expect from team Yamaha, but it would seem that Rossi,s influence has extended to determining that his manager is part of the psychological warfare against Lorenzo.

So Lorenzo has to win the title to stay at Yamaha...........?
<
You,re kidding , surely?

A bit rich for me.
I think Lorenzo is Yamaha,s future. When Rossi retires in 2 years or so, is Spies going to be enough to beat Lorenzo on a Honda and Stoner on a Ducati? I think not. ( Bloody brilliant as he is)

PS: What happens to Rossi if Lorenzo DOES have a big lead on him mid-year?

Is THAT the best Rossi can manage?  To tell his obedient manager to take this notably limp wristed swing at Jorge?

This makes Handbags-at-Dawn look like the O.K. Corral!

Par for the course Yam just blinging it up.
There not daft

it's all a bit like footy managers talk the talk walk the walk

IF Rossi retires/moves on post 2010.

Horney n Pies will be there A.Team

What Lin Say.?

To be honest, I'm not surprised. This was always going to be the outcome. You can't sack the most famous motorcycle rider in the world. If I Lorenzo is smart, he'll get the hint and head for Honda. Honda and Lorenzo on a quest for vengeance against Yamaha and Rossi? Epic storyline.

All mind games, actually pretty clever this one. Jorge has IMO a very strong desire to not just win races and maybe a championship, jl wants to be one of the all time greats and of course follow in their footsteps. Maybe they are delusions of grandure at this point, but his celebrations and artwork like the moon landing stunt reinforce this theory.

By stating that jl is already behind the eight ball in regards to winning a title and not just comparing him with the goat but also cs, would no doubt weigh heavily on the mind of someone with ambitions like jl.........

Also interesting where they are directing their firepower.......the obvious main threat in the minds of team rossi is still Lorenzo

Be good if you are right, but there is a difference between hope and reality........................
<

That would be the worst possible outcome for Rossi.
I'm sure he would far prefer to be beaten by Stoner on the Duc, that to be beaten by Lorenzo on the same M1.

If Lorenzo is leading the championship late in the season, and looks like winning, Rossi's bargaining power with Yamaha will be greatly deminished - definitely in trying to get rid of Lorenzo.

I think there is going to be some big fireworks between Rossi and Lorenzo this year.
Title will be a three way fight to the end.

I'm beginning ( well more and more ) to think that Spies ........ is Yamaha's idea of the future .......

I think they don't like the Eurocentricity that Dorna brings to MGP. It stuff up their biggest market.

So we may see Yamaha's focus mysteriously change from the Dorna money makers, Rossi and Lorenzo, to more manufacturer beneficial ridiers. Eg. Spies .... I keep wondering why he specifically got a very works backed Yamaha ....... there's something in that.

Agreed. Lorenzo is Lorenzo's biggest challenge. Spies will be numero uno. The marketing for the US would be too hard to turn him down.

all talk...let the racing begin...

everyone is under pressure every season! may be some not on winning the WC but in performing damn good enough for the sponsors and for the company that pay their salaries. they're all "contractual" employees, and so they are all under pressure to impress the bosses. and of course, us

This story is the kind where I could comment on the dastardly cowardice of the Rossi camp, but then get a slew of responses touting me a Rossi hater. So I've decide to make a change. From now on, I will give a pass to all Boppers. In fact, I will take up their cause. I will now engage in total Rossi-bopperism. Starting now!

The new Jumkie:

I don't think its that far fetched to say Lorenzo is under pressure to win a title. As he said, Rossi did it in his 2nd attempt, on a far inferior bike than we see today. If Lorenzo is to establish himself as a legit rival to Rossi, he must win a title against the GOAT. No less will be acceptable. Rossi can speak for himself, and has on several occasions about what he thinks of the young pretender, so its not surprising that his manager is saying the same thing (as he should). In fact, if I were Rossi, I would say publicly, 'Lorenzo's seat is subject to a title or it should go directly to Spies in 2011.' Honda does not have a title contender, frankly, they shipped their only hope at a championship to be Stoner's teammate at Ducati. So if Lorenzo doesn't beat the GOAT straight up, I say pack your bags son, go develop your own bike at Honda.

Who says Spies got a Factory bike?

Alternatively they may be so worried about stoner that they are laying the ground for rossi to be the clear number 1 rider from the first race
<
, or they think lorenzo has already made the decision to leave.
