it wouldn't suprise me if spies has a clause in his contract that if he wins WSBK Title he gets a tech3 ride so JT might have wait till the WSBK title is sorted but it sounds like hes out all ready n burnett his manager is looking at pramac.thats JT's last chance of staying in motogp imo

i think that in more true now.i'd bet owt spies has a clause if he wins the WSBK Title he get his rookie ride in MOTOGP 2010.Spies is coming ppl lets hope he wins the WSBK.THIS YEAR.

TECH 3 YAMAHA will hold off announcing their chosen riders for next year's MotoGP squad until after the race for the World Superbike Championship is decided, reports Visordown's MotoGP insider.

The latest news is that Yamaha are waiting to see if the triple US champion Ben Spies, who recently signed for two more years with the company, can bag Yamaha its first WSB title. If successful Spies could head to MotoGP in 2010.

The official statement seemed deliberately unclear, saying that “the programme foresees a season in 2010 with the Yamaha World Superbike team … and a switch to Yamaha’s satellite MotoGP team for 2011.”

This possibility was supported by Yamaha Racing MD Lin Jarvis: “Ben’s primary mission is to win … Yamaha’s first World Superbike title. After that when Ben eventually makes his move to MotoGP we will be ready for him.”

YEs YEs YEs NOri for the win. THe guy has busted his ... for many years and works really hard. Plus he is a cool guy on top of all the hard work he has put in over the years. Oh and yeah he is on a Ducati so YES Nori wint he title this year.

I find it kind of amuzing that Ben has to win the title to earn a ride in MOTOGP. If the guy hasn't proven himself already then Yamaha doesn't deserve his services. I might be a little biased because I really want to see him in MOTOGP but do they really need to be placing more pressure on the dude. On the other hand maybe Ben really wants to win the SBK championship and it was his terms that stated he would have to win the championship before he left.

Kropotkin is reporting that the Edwards/Tech 3 deal is for JT's seat, leaving the "factory" seat available. Likely indicating that should Spies win the title, he'll be MotoGP bound for 2010.

Yamaha wants the WSBK championship in the worst way. Its something they have never won.I believe the clause about moving up to GP was Spies idea,Yamaha just didnt see it coming in the first year. However, they seem ready to live up to the letter of the contract which has to look good to current and future riders.
