Crutchlow Turns Down Tech-3 MotoGp Ride

I have to agree,Cal is still young and the oppotunity will arise again I`m sure.

Im assuming every Motorcycle Racer in the world dreams of one day being able to throw a leg over a moto gp bike! So when the offer is there, you have to take it. I really like Cal and hopefully he can change his mind and jump on the Tech 3, he has nothing to lose

LOL. Yeah riding Rossi's bike and having Gardner Doohan and Rossi's crew chief at your back is something that will undoubtedly be available frequently

Rossi's bike/crew? Read the thread title again buddy. I think that Celtdics loss killed a few brain cells.

He didnt take it for one BIG reason................................................" Ben Spies"

He & James are already looking like poop on the WSBK yamaha. The same bike Ben use to win the Cship last year. I am sure he's looking at Bens current position in motogp. That way he can figure out where he would stack up.

Yes indeed, the biggest mistake here is from Yamaha. There are much better opitions for that ride in both series

What a ...... .....

Now he's even a bigger ....... than me. Surely he can do better than CE2's race to the back of the pack every weekend. He'll probabaly start where Colin would finish so things can only get better for him.

I been pretty hard on Colin but after Mugello I really started to wonder about Tech 3. They have had a good team for a few years now that practices well but during the race they seem to be going backwards. Count how many times a tech 3 bike has had problems during a race and compare it to the factory bike track record. The factory yams are bulletproof. I can't chalk that many problems up to bad luck when seeing how reliable one is compared to the other

So according to the Eurosport team, its expected that Edwards goes to Fiat and Takahashi rides the Tech 3 bike.Supposedly to be confirmed later today ,if it hasn`t been already.

I just dont see the logic of putting Takahashi on the bike unless its because he doesn`t go fast enough to get into trouble and it saves a bit of the Tech 3 budget.

According to commentators this morning - Edwards was suffering from some kind of virus at Mugello.

Personally I think Cal has made a mature descision here. His pace is picking up on the diesel, so why set himself up to risk his placing in WSBK for a few faces in GP? He's young, and bursting with confidence (arrogance?) and is probably eyeing up the WSBK title over the next two years then make the switch. Winning WSBK hardly ruined Spies GP aspirations at Yamaha did it?

Pete

Wow - I'm with the "it was a mistake" crowd. Cal - ya gotta believe man. Also with the "I'm laughin' my ... off at JT" crowd!!!!

Smart decision i'm sure

Of course you would Tom, that's because Cal's decision is lame. One only need to look no further than Spies to answer whether its a good idea to take a few wild cards (which is what they are basically asking Crutch to do). Spies just podiumed on the exact bike this clown would probably get, so he's not risking being on some sub par machine that will make him look bad. Its a lame decision, as he basically told us he didn't do it cuz hes scared. He aint gonna win the wsbk title this year, so what's the ....... point? Does he want to go to MotoGP or not?

Thats what this would be a test. Something you don't get many of anymore in gp. So you have to take it when the opportunity presents itself. He wouldn't lose a single fan for taking it easy and running in the back. If anything he would gain popularity and become a hotter commodity just by being in the paddock. Now he needs whoever takes the seat to preform like .... or he will have to take a seat at the back of the bus. Just because your in the running for employee of the month doesn't mean you turn down a job interview as a general manager. jeez.

This.

And IMO, he just failed that test.

Herve can't afford Takacrashi's mishaps in Moto2, I have no idea how he is going to afford the MotoGP accidents.

Also, there are counter-rumors floating around that neither Spies nor Edwards can take the Fiat Yamaha ride b/c Tech 3's sponsorship contracts require them to have Edwards and Spies on the bikes in order to get paid. Maybe Yamaha will subsidize, but it's hard to say. They might have been willing to reimburse Poncharal if someone like Crutchlow was getting a look at MotoGP, but I doubt they will have any interest in supporting a deal with Takahashi.

Takahashi didn't do to bad in Motogp, he'll prolly do better than a replacement who's never ridden a GP bike before.

Isn't Garry Mccoy free btw?

Stoner: Yoshikawa call-up atrocious

By Steven English and David Emmett Monday, June 28th 2010, 10:01 GMT

Casey Stoner has slammed Yamaha's decision to field test rider Wataru Yoshikawa in place of Valentino Rossi for at least the next three MotoGP rounds.

The Ducati rider says giving the factory bike to the 41-year-old former World Superbike racer - who has not competed regularly at the top level in the last eight years - is "atrocious".

Yamaha riders Ben Spies and Cal Crutchlow had already turned down the opportunity and team boss Lin Jarvis admitted that fidning a replacement for Rossi had been problematic.
