There is discussion aroundthat in some of the forums, but as a lotthere are saying, if there was a wall of any kind there the injury to MoConville would have been catastrophic as his speed at that point was still near 200kmh. Plus, bikes have gone through the trap as well and one can imagine the issues should a bike with or without rider hit any wall at that point.
The general discussion seems to be centred on the issue that the trap had become compacted and therefore did not work in the manner designed to slow the car, then there is the tar behind and once it hit the grass again - well it was not going to stop.
But as bad as that was, it was also lucky as the proverbial for Besnard (the car that nearly impacts) and McConville.
