<{POST_SNAPBACK}><div class='quotemain'>I don't agree, there is no way to ride defencivly down straight. Well, there is but that won't work lap after lap. If everyting works and Rossi are quicker than the rest, he still need to build a distance to keep those Ducatis off on the straights.
How much a distance depends on how much Yamaha has managed to tweek out of their IL4. Rossi just confirmed that there were new parts in the engine in Turkey. Top speed also indicated progress.
On the positive side, if he's that fast he don't need pole to win it.
I agree, IIRC the main drag at China is longer than the one in the desert, but Yamaha realised they need power, and they rectified the problem (although the bike is probably still not as powerful as the Duke.) If Rossi wants to hold stoner off this time he needs his tyres to work, and he needs to milk the twisties to bring his time down then pray that the red rockets don't catch him on the straight. Otherwise we'll be in for a repeat of Qatar. Of course if it rains, Ducati lose their power advantage and Stoner is at the mercy of Rossi's wet weather skills. The other factor is Honda sorting their .... out, but I think thier main hope right now is in Elais, and he won't get new parts before the factory guys, but I think he's still worth a punt. So I think we're looking at

Stoner
Rossi
Elias
