Ok, from allllll the past GP bikes there have been what happens to them including 125 +250. I think I heard last year they auctioned off the Ducati GP6 but you never hear of it.

Anyone care to shed some light?

Thanks, Phil

Good question. I really don't know. I suppose that the factories hold on to them as to not to fall in the hands of there competition. Although, I have seen some Respol 250 Gp bikes and a few Aprillia's. So go figure.

I for one would love to have Foggy's or Troy's World beating Ducati. What about the 250 Aprillia that Biaggi won his championships on that would be awesome.

Nevertheless, Again. I don't know.

Anyone else.

For a long time HRC bikes got crushed, bad news for Eddy Lejuene, Dave Thorpe, and I believe, even Doohans early race bikes!

I remember reading somewhere that Kocinski has one of his Cagivas in his house.

Here is Tony ONeil with his horde of Ducatis.
Hey Dude, You can't ride all of them. I promise, if you let me hold onto one of those I will always have a big smile.

Doohan kept the NSRs he won the titles on, Sheene kept his race bikes and I know Niall Mackenzie has his Yamaha France YZR from 1991/1992.

A lot of the guys started to realise that they were worth keeping, but one of the Ows that Roberts (Snr) raced is in the Honda museum along with other period bikes.

He owned a metal works factor that built TV stands made a mint and sold it to start and run a company that acquires, auctions, and sells race cars and racing bikes for those not limited in their means...

I know that the famous bikes (Rossi's championship winning bikes for example) go to the museum of whatever factory the rider won it for, or to another museum (the Donny one for example).

I used to work for Honda-they were extremly secretive with anything they do...all the bikes/cars/acura cars got crushed so they wouldnt fall into the wrong hands....so sad!!

rossi has the m-1 that he gave yamaha the dhampionship. mr yamaha himself presentef rosii with cert of ownership papers. for.. rossi said he will keep it in a vault??

Rossi would also like Honda to give him an anwser to that question.

At Daytona on bike week the last few years they have had Rossi's
Yamaha 990 on display.
You could even sit on it and get a photo for that " We're not worthy" photo op.
Pretty cool. Best part was listening to all the idiotic questions the Yamaha guy would have to anwser to all the wannabes that had no idea what it was.
Suprisingly the Honda tent had a RC212V on display.
This was in march before the bike had even raced so apparently they flew one over just for this event.
Makes you wonder how many of these, old and new are floating around.
Ducati of Miami has one of Fogarty's championship superbikes on display in the showroom

I was fortunate to have a chat with JK in 2000 when he was racing for Vance & Hines Ducati at Loudon NH and he stated he does[did] have one of the Cagivas sitting in his living room. It was a gift from the company when they folded their GP effort. Another of the team bikes went on ebay in 2003 i think, with a starting bid of 170,000 AUS dollars. It had 2 bids over that amount but didn't hit the reserve. It finally ended up in someones bar in OZ who is a collector on the jay Leno scale I think. Price was never revealed.. Somewhere I have a printout of the original auction. The 94 Cagiva was hands down the most beutiful GP bike of the modern era for my taste.

Thanks 'Guzzi.

The modern 500s were good-looking. I like their more-compact appearance.

About the M1 and RC212V at Daytona, are you sure those were the real deals? Or were they just dummies with replica bodywork? I remember looking in the interior of a Panoz LMP01 prototype sports car at Road Atlanta only to discover that it was an empty body shell on wheels.

The M1 for sure was the real deal.
The 212 was on a cordoned off rotating podium so I can't be sure but I sat there for at least 15 minutes trying to spot a flaw and couldn't.
I just remembered last year they had the KR211V on that same podium.
They put a lot of bikes on display there.
Spies superbike
RC's RM
Stewarts KZ
An Eddie Lawson Kawi (yes a Kawi)
Freddie Spencer something
I think they also Josh Hayes Formula Extreme championship bike.
They put a lot on display.
