Well it seems his wrist issues didnt get fixed after the last procedure just over a month ago....

motogp.com · Nicky Hayden undergoes successful operation in San Diego

Having bones taken out so that he can have a bit more mobility in wrist for the short term, seems silly to me considering it doesnt actually fully get rid of any pain and discomfort felt....

Nicky is on a slippery slope with this injury....

All the best to him, and I hope he has a speedy and full recovery so he can ride at Indy....

A second surgery does not sound too good especially since this type of repair does not have a favorable success ratio(the original surgery). I am hoping that it's only an adjustment procedure. Would very much like to see Nicky ride till the end of his contract before calling it quits.

Migs do you think Hayden would go well in WSBK?

I'd like to see him there and winning races.
Better than what he's doing now.

Honestly I am not sure...he hasn't raced on an WSBK bike in over 11 years....and if his wrist isn't 100% then the heavier WSBK bike wont suit or help him.....

If he stays healthy or doesnt crash then he will be fine until end of his current contract.....

Question is will he try go beyond 2015 if he stays healthy?

"I was having some issues with the wrist and the Doc went in and found a significant build up of stubbornness, bad ideas, Rossi memorabilia and marinara sauce. He'd seen similar damage in Stoner's wrist, but nothing this bad. Doc said it was lucky I got in now or I'd probably have to ride in World Superbikes, so I definitely dodged a bullet there".

that sounds no good.. I really thought that the '15 open Honda would be the bike that would let Nicky shine a little in the autumn of his career. would be a shame if he wouldn't come to ride it. but this surgery crap is just too reminiscent of Spies' demise in 2013.

GPone is reporting that there are rumors in the paddock of Nicky becoming HRC test rider in 2015....

I guess the question becomes who is Nicky's contract fully with Aspar, or partly with American Honda?

So switching to testing due to his wrist???
If he can't ride to race
Then how can he ride to test?

He's now in the crash-injury-surgery career death spiral. See also Toseland, Spies, Vermeulen and many more.

Surely there must be 1 young AMA American rider good enough to get a shot at Nicky's back of the grid seat for the rest of the season.....
I am glad Camier got called up....but.....is he the future?

The 2013 AMA Superbike champion has yet to score a point in Moto2 so maybe there isn't.

Hayden will now also miss Silverstone....Camier gets a home race
race....

Surely Aspar has to be looking for a 2015 replacement ... For both of his current riders....

Really really really hope he'll just pack it up and go get a WSBK title before he goes into "retirement" trying to capture the Grand Slam.

I've come to terms with the fact that he isn't gonna do anything else noteworthy in MotoGP. Get out while the gettings good I say!

I don't think he'd have a hope of winning WSBK. He's not significantly faster than Camier on the proddy Honda and Camier is just grid filler in WSBK.

It's also difficult to see what WSBK team he would go to that would even have a theoretical shot at putting together a championship winning package. Factory Kawasaki - no. Factory Aprilia - maybe, but they are about to lose interest in WSBK as their MotoGP ramps up. Factory Ducati - possibility, but the bike is still miles off championship pace.

I think your right. He should just ride it out in Motogp and then head back to Kentucky for some molasses and biscuits.

According to L.Camier MotoGP is a lot less physically demanding than WSBK....if this is the case and with Nicky already physically struggling with the GP bikes then he wont be able to handle the WSBK bike at top level for very long, if at all.......unless he operation was a huge success and he comes back stronger than ever, and he has no crashes or issues for the rest of the season....which is unlikely.....
We are seeing, once he returns, the last of Nicky's racing as a rider...

Being a KY Hillbilly (even more than Nicky) myself, I have always been pulling for the Kentucky Kid. But the odds are stacked against him. This is surely his Swan Song.

BT Sport commentators were saying there are rumours going round the paddock and coming out of USA sources that Nicky wont be back before Japan now...
