Yeah, the MDS Moriwaki or whatever it was that raced in the Japanese series had a CRF based engine. I can't recall whether they ever made it to Moto3 WC

The Moriwaki MD250 uses the CRF Honda engine and NSF chassis. They are in a few Moto3 champs around the world, don't think anyone has one in Moto3 WC, but you can buy one from Ten Kate for 11k euros.

I see that the Dutch GP3 champs will lease you an MD for 6k euros for the season - damned good price to get into GP-class racing.

Do you know what the lease agreement involves? Spares/Support? It does sound like a good deal....but I would prefer (no ....) a stroker. Locally, RMU are starting to make some inroads for junior racing. Proper 125-style chassis and a hotted up Derbi 80cc. I believe they're around AUD16K.

What freaked me out on the NSF was the spares prices....pistons costing something like Euro800. Which is why I am jealously holding onto my RS125 and my stash of brand new pistons.

Dunno, just saw the 'for sale' on the Ten Kate site.

Go to the GP3 website - I'm sure they have a bunch of info on there. I agree, it is a cracking price if you have a young'un that wants to get into GP racing.

There's plenty of pattern parts now for the NSF. Just checked a Moto3 parts place and I was surprised - they are on a par with road bike parts.

Thanks.

I know Honda is getting whipped in the Moto3 WC, but providing a bike for national/state level competition was always their intent. I just don't think they realised how hot the competiton might be.

The chassis bits should be pretty cheap (unless you feel like fitting your bike out with Battle Factory parts), as they're basically RS125R bits and available everywhere.... but google "NSF250 piston price" and prepare to be gobsmacked at the price of a top end kit...
