Mugello Race Day

I was being sarcastic. Beats me why they haven't gone screamer again for Stoner. They have gone big bang and the rear grip is better ....... cue watch out for front troubles ..
<

I realised you were being sarcastic. At the moment they seem to have lost everything, as not only is the handling treacherous but the bike also does not seem to be fast in a straight line.

I have argued previously that they can't go back to the screamer because of the engine rules and the rev limits they necessitate, but they are getting close to having little to lose.

Well it was thought of by many riders as treacerous in screamer config., but mainly the back end ..... which Stoner seemed able to deal with, and was rather picturesque in doing so. Now we are seeing none of that. The big bang has changed their grip balance to a bike that is not going to allow anyone to really excell on it. In screamer config, if the front went the rider can let loose the back end to follow the drifting front. ( though not many

) Whereas now, try pushing it and the front goes, and you can't get the back out to follow it, so the back stays and the front now goes.

but the bike also does not seem to be fast in a straight line.

Yes well big bang will do that, by simply being tamer.

I guess it is not ducati's fault that stoner got crook last year leading to the bike seemingly being developed in a direction away from him, but rossi competitive bikes (and riders) don't grow on trees. It will be interesting to see if jorge can take the yamaha in the right direction without valentino's input against an apparently resurgent honda, or whether it will be as it was for eddie irvine when schumacher broke his leg in F1 quite some years ago now.

Nice last lap for 4th. Stoner carved it up for a guy who allegedly hates to overtake.

Very distressing for Ducati with 2 satellite Honda's consistently faster down the straight. Seems to me that they have successfully developed a 4th place bike for a great rider and continued as a back marker for the grid fillers. Wonder how many engines they have used and if they have enough to go back to the whaling banshee. On the screamer Stoner could probably still achieve 4th by starting from pit lane and 10seconds behind and then at least race at the front for the non penalised races.

That is 1 of Dani's 2 annual victories. Hope he saves up the other for one of the many Spanish races.

Lorenzo was not riding at his practice pace in the 1.49s. Could it be

Rossi's injury shook him?

It isn't unknown for Lorenzo to be unable to match his practice pace, particularly when conditions are much hotter. A little disappointing but a sensible race. Dani spanked them all, and i think he and Honda will be motivated to try and make this year their own and get more than just a pair of wins. I don't think it'll work in the long run but it may help make things interesting until Rossi gets back. Race was pretty boring but if Rossi were involved i'd expect him to have fitted somewhere in the gap between Dani and Lorenzo and i doubt the race would have been any better.

Honda seems to have very strong engine despite new engine rule. The worrying sign is Yamaha. Jorge already used 3rd engine at Mugello. If you do simple math, it is indeed not a good sign. I bet Yam is still developing the long lasting engine….

nice way of increasing fan base

Again... a very petty thing to ascribe to Lorenzo. I don't see him as being that shallow.

Starting to look like Rossifans are now going to switch the their hater mentality

from Stoner to Lorenzo. Seems inevitable.

Congrats to Dani, great ride from him. Solid ride from Lorenzo and Dovi, good battle for 4rd place and some nice overtaking from all three riders but Casey did great job on last lap to get 4rd place. It was strange to watch motogp race without Rossi though.

You mean from Hayden to Stoner and now to Lorenzo. Yes, it is completely inevitable and deviod of intellect.

So you guys are saying that when Casey won in 07, it wasn't down to Ducati at all, it was all Casey now when he is not winning, its not him, its all down to Ducati.........hmmm........double standards guys, you can't have it both ways, either give some credit to Ducati in 07 or don't put all the blame to Ducati now for Casey's poor start to the season so far.

No, I don't 'hate' Lorenzo.  I DO believe that much of what he does is consciously premeditated with the intent of 'playing' public opinion.

Rossi broke his frigging leg.  He's not in a wheelchair, or six feet under.  In my book, you send the bloke a 'get well' card, say nice things about him at the press conference, and call it 'done.'

A window into the future?

Yikes. If this is the future of GP, the sport is in serious trouble. GP has got to be cheaper to play and easier to get into b/c Dorna need about 30 bikes on the grid so they can find the next Rossi and give the aliens more options.

Masterclass by Dani, which is something I never thought I'd say about him at Mugello. He ran a 49.5 during the race so he wasn't going to be caught today.. Lots of guys lost out b/c the temperature jumped so drastically between warm up and the race. Nice to see that Honda have gotten things together b/c we need bikes at the front.

Unfortunately, Honda's gain is Ducati's loss. They look desperate, and the soft tire choice was clearly a mistake in 90 degree temperatures. At the end Casey said he didn't try to push when he was in 4th place b/c he was just using up all of his energy and he was breathing very heavily with Mat from the BBC during the post race interview in the Ducati garage. Makes me worry a bit. The fantastic battle for 4th really underlines that Casey does have the x-factor to keep a cool head and win the important battles.

Pretty ...... race in my opinion

Conspiracy theory#1 at Ducati They made Nicky Ride Casey's bike which explains Nicky losing the front and Casey finishing 4th

Good Job By Marco Melandri and RDP

Lorenzo wearing a Rossi shirt was in no way to Diss Him, Lorenzo has been watching Rossi Race since he was a kid and In a Television interview in spain from his 250 days he said he views Rossi as a "God". Im pretty sure he has great admiration for him and It motivates him when he Races against him . Imagine being able to Beat your hero at his own game, it kind of reminds me of When Oscar de la Hoya beat Julio Ceaser Chavez in Boxing

If I could donate my leg toVale I would, It Just wasn't the same

Congrats to Dani, he was actually smiling and Puig was giving hugs WTF!

Damn lorenzo was fast today, rode perfect laps built up a sizable lead and won.

Lorenzo not as fast as dani today but a very valuable 20 points. An intelligent ride.

Great battle with stoner, randy and marco. best part of the race no doubt.

Shame about haystack, hard tyres i think.

Nice touch lorenzo with the rossi shirt. They may fight because they want the same thing but this shows the respect these racers have for each other.

Its to bad afro marco got the boot. Or we would have had one more horse in the battle, a really stupid horse!

Very well done by Dani, I hope he can win a few more and make it a championship again. He only has to close a gap of 23 points, while he has just one championship contender to fight with and that's someone who he has beaten before.

Well riden by Lorenzo and he did a good job to finish in front of Dovi at his home race, 20 points for Horhay were the max he could do today and he limited the damage.

Dovi lost his 2 points lead over Dani (which he was so proud of, and he was happy for being in front of Pedrosa on the standings while coming to mugello). I dont think he has yet what it takes to perform consistantly and fighting for the win, he gets too exited for a good result, like he is surprised with his own performance, may be his hunger and ego isn't as big as the alians.

I had never pay attention to Spargaro before, but after his last race, i followed his race today and he was very good for a rookie.

I believe the Honda bike is always been the best or near the best, even after Vale went away.

they just haven't a rider like Rossi, or they cant find their best set up, otherwise how could a he win a few races per year, by beating the alians by miles, if he hadn't the best bike.

Rossi and Lorenzo and Stoner always are pushing at their max, and mostly beat the Honda's by miles, so how could they all get beaten by pedrosa sometimes with such a big gap?

Yamaha won only 2 races in it's first 2 years of 990CC and Honda won 21 races, then when Rossi went to Yamaha, amazingly the numbers turend arround and Yamaha won 25 races in the 3 remaining years of 990CC, and Honda won only 5 races in those 3 years.

So I think they only need a top Rider to win championships for them again.

about motogp races without Rossi, it's not the same, but at once something has happend. Now the alians have to get in a serious fight for showing who's the next boss.

No if you cared to read what I have said about Stoner and 07, I said though I don't feel the 07 Duc as as good a bike as the Yam., the fact stands that Ducati did build a bike that Stoner could win on.
<

You just need to stop with the pidgeonholing and open your eyes.
<
Thats why it appears to be double stanards to you, you attribute your thoughts to others without looking at what the others are saying ........ classic Bopper fault.

More Barry BS, hard to understand you Barry with all your emotions and i think some times you even don't make any sense to yourself let alone to any one else.

Oddest race ever, in the middle a cousin I haven't seen for 27 years turns up, inconsiderate family.
