Calm down pommies.. We all know what happened to Bayliss during his years in GP (one rare win doesnt prove jack ....) and just look at Edwards' performaces as an ex WSBK rider, he's all talk and no action (besides crashing on last corners, etc).. IF JT gets a ride for Gresini it would be good, however, he would need several years to learn and several years before he gets anywhere NEAR the front (if he does at all.) GP, with the current competetive field will be extremely hard to penetrate for any newcomer, let alone a 26 year old WSBK rider (most will be 20 year olds coming from 125/250's) .. One other thing to remember is, this 'breaking news' came from MCN, lets just calm down until it happens... cleans up vomit

I agree, its too easy to get carried away because we Brits are desperate for a decent GP rider, but the record shows the superbike riders don't do too weel, and it will definately take a wile to get to the front.

Well i just thought it was quite rediculous to claim that he hadn't had a decent podium or win in ages, when his fantastic Philip island win was so recent, and it is nowhere near time to be putting him down or righting him off

One name: Nicky Hayden.

thinks more deeply

Bugger, I wish they stayed with 990's.

Good example, but the difference is that Nicky got away from superbike racing and into the gp field as soon as possible, rather than becoming a superbike specialist then moving over to gp.

The more I think about it the more I think he should look for a Ducati rider.

The GP7 is a mini 990 isn't it? A SBK style would suit it then.

The RC212V is a big 250, I don't think jt has any experience of them.

I reckon JT will be in GP's next year, on a Honda or Ducati, he's well thought of by both factories. Too early to do anything but speculate yet. I do believe he's as ready as he'll ever be though.

: "James is a very good rider and last year after the Valencia GP we invited him to test the RCV. He performed very well and this year I am very satisfied with his performances."

Gresini is a likely destination due to the Italian squad's sponsorship deal with monitor manufacturers Hannspree, who also sponsor Toseland's Ten Kate Superbike team.

i can't beleive the rumour mill has started already - we're only a month into the season FFS

james doing lots of work in the back ground very good chance of the move getting factory input from honda and using a swingarm developed by a MOTOGP TEAM
info from james friend

For all we know Toseland could retire from every race of the season and Elias could win every race this season, then JT wouldn't stand a chance...in WSB let alone Moto GP. Unreal, I know, but everything's a possibility in motor-racing.

Elias win at Estoril saved his ride partly because of the great race he rode but more because of the circumstances and denying Valentino an almost certain title.

He will need to do something similar this year if he is to stay at Gresini Honda and i doubt he will be able to.

Toseland will probably go there to partner Melandri unless Marco takes Haydens Repsol ride.

As HANNspree already sponsor Gresini Honda i think JT is destined to go there with them becoming a title sponsor in 2008.

Hey Locks, I heard the American rider Bosney is being sought after for a MotoGP ride...

Not really the case apparently according to Marco.

As for JT...the Italians have had him down for Motogp next year for a while now.
