well, I agree they don't try to remove it completly, that would be very easy these days but they are not exactly maximizing it. They are trying to make it smooth, that's true, but it's little more than what they used to have with the old 500s. The main issue were originally to avoid plain lock up of the rear.
With todays position connected TC I assume they have the electronic part of the "engine braking system" connected and so it's really a part of the TC package.
