And don't forget...

Twenty years later, the fifth of September does not pass easily for anyone involved in 1990s GP racing. On September 5 1993, at Misano, three time world champion Wayne Rainey raced his last GP race, and by the end of that fateful afternoon he would never walk again.

Much missed. Seems in the natural order of things glory must at some level be balanced by some amount of tragedy.

I think that's why real riders get such a good feel every time they start up the bike - if even

for a short ride. I always take great pleasure if just even taking the 10 minute ride to work.

I never take it for granted. You know Tomizawa San never did. He lived what others only dreamed.

I wasn't sure i I should include this tragic date in this thread, but I'm glad you did. Mr. Rainey didn't die, but in a way it was more painful for some of us to witness. I've had a few ultra moving moments during the year's I've been a fan of the sport, elation, shock, sadness, happiness, etc; but one of them was meeting Mr. Rainey and getting a handshake from the man. I remember the time we met him at Laguna with Roger. We both felt the same profound feeling like something had just pierced through us. Its one of my best memories.

I don't post very much but I do come here quite often

It is for threads like this.

Nice one Willski.

Can't help but wonder what he would've done if he was still with us for the last 3 years?

Three years so fast.

These are the most important ones really. We can all posture and talk bollocks about all matter of things, but we shouldn't really forget the ones who lose their lives doing what they love and what we love them doing

Hey I sadly never got to know the guy. Was he good ?

He won the first ever Moto2 race and showed good signs of speed a number of times. But sadly he was only 19 when he was killed in the accident at Misano so we never really got to see how good he was.

Yeah Sloth he was certainly talented and looked quick. IMO he looked quick enough to be a moto2 challenger, but as you rightly say, we shall never know what he could have achieved.
Nice kid as well
