The Ducati is clearly in fantastic shape. Dovi and Petrucci, who never perform well at PI, are right up there.

Mav looks good. Rossi is usually slow in free practice here but turns up on race day, so it's hard to understand his pace.

The Suzukis both look good. That bike seems to work everywhere.

Dani looks poor, as he has all year. Marc hasn't looked as strong as I would've thought, and the front-end loss was quite odd.

The big red roos are something else...

Western Reds are big but you can get some eastern greys as big, although they are rare (have a big, like really big bugger dead roadside a few kays from home - and with the heat, the smell aint to good)

Simon Cracfar does the Gopro lap

Let's not forget that the last time MM had the title wrapped by this point he DNF'ed home as he tested himself and started to have some fun ........... and if memory is right, it was front end losses that were his issue then with the over-ride.

Sure it was an odd crash but pressure off so it is party time for Marquez as, after all to borrow an adage from golf, it is't how but how many that matters and he has enough points already.

A pitboard sign I've not seen before. #42 is Rins, what's the fox picture represent? Any ideas? Alex was following at the time

I think Marc was trying to destroy the field that day as he had pulled like a 4 second lead in the first handful of laps . He has been dominant at this track, but doesn’t have the Stoner like dominant record to show for it. You have COTA where he is undefeated, Argentina where he has been beaten once and beat himself once , Aragon where he could have and should have won every year, Germany where he is undefeated and this track where he should be undefeated.

When you put it like that it is fairly scary for the rest of the field.

In many ways Pov, that supports what I say ................ when he has it won, he decides to have fun and play (taunt even?) the other riders as he knows that he has the prize in his pocket.

That said, scarey stats there with his dominance and shows that we need others to step up to Marquez's level, just as in years past it was stepping up to the level that Rossi had for so long.

He has always been fast at PI in the premier class, but last year was the only other time he has finished let alone won the race in his premier class career, which is why the 2015 conspiracy theory, with Uccio seeming to be of the belief he was obliged to ride the same way he had ridden at PI the previous year and in 6 previous races that year, and hence conveniently for Rossi presumably crash out of the race, was so ludicrous. I would take it rather, whatever his motives may have been (which may imo have included electing not to put the title contenders at risk of crashing out by putting hard moves on them) as the race he learnt that there is a different way to win both races and titles which he has pretty much practiced since.

I think he will go all out today to have some fun though as Gaz says, he has come to value title wins over individual race wins but I don't think he cares at all about the winning margin in a title already won.

Wow. Zarco into Marquez at turn 1. Both supremely lucky. This is Yamaha's best chance all year for a win.

MM still has only finished the PI race twice in the 6 years of his premier class career. I am sure both he and Zarco are glad to be alive and uninjured ahead of anything else.

The shot of Zarco in garage straight after returning, his eyes. Looked like he'd seen a ghost. That was proper scary stuff...

Odd race. The pace seemed slow .... at one stage when Mark was leading I was thinking .... maybe Ducati should have asked Stoner to ride.
