Losail final pre-season MotoGP Test

All of the rookies aren t doing well, bar spies, which is actually quite refreshing taking me back to early 990s and 500 days.

Well done Nicky! With ducatis Qatar dominance being seriously challenged, nh's efforts are right up there for me, this with spies are the two best performances IMO

And take a good look at 5th position. Suzuki basically got a 1 day test and still managed to hit top 5. 4 frame iterations since last race and clearly the cooler weather didn't kill them this time. Only .34 seconds out of second place...

I am pleased spies and nicky are both up there.

So far stoner has been closer than previously at sepang, and rossi closer than previously at qatar. Perhaps there is still some hope for an intriguing season, and the fears of some stoner fans including me that stoner's "edge" would be gone with the screamer engine may be unfounded.

5 Loris Capirossi Rizla Suzuki MotoGP 1:56.195 +0.080 +0.842 58

So Jumkie in the end its not looking bad for ductai team, stoner half a second quicker to any one else and they got 2 riders in top 5 compare to only 1 yamaha rider in top 5, can't see any bike advantage for yamaha now buddy. Jumkie just slow down with your pre-mature assumptions please

.
Look at the overall times, folks:

1 Casey Stoner 1:55.717 1:55.353 - -
2 Valentino Rossi 1:55.402 1:55.860 +0.049 +0.049
3 Andrea Dovizioso 1:56.811 1:55.879 +0.477 +0.526
4 Ben Spies 1:55.954 1:56.779 +0.075 +0.601
5 Nicky Hayden 1:56.855 1:56.115 +0.161 +0.762

Let's not get our panties in a bunch. Two Ducs and two Yams. And Dovi, making me look even better.

This is exactly my point Austin, so far CS is right behind Rossi in all tests apart from today where he actually beat Rossi so to me it looks like Ducati and Yamaha are evenly matched bikes and i am sure through out the year they will have strong and week races on certain tracks.

Agreed. I didn't mean to call you out, you were just the last one in the debate and the easiest for me to quote. I think that the Yamaha still has an edge over the Ducati, but not by much. It's certainly not in the realm of the 2002 RC211V.

Knowing Duhrna they meant 18:00 at Losail Track!

You see Inam, a little deeper analysis of day 1 times would have suggested that CS was still likely to end up fastest.

Mind you, this means sfa until race day< so I place no strong value to it, nor derive vicarious pleasure. The main game is keeping the boppers honest!

Just a bit of balance please (I know its very difficult to modify behaviour after adopting bopper tendencies for a long time.)

Curiously, post test comments to date cover all riders bar Rossi and Lorenzo. Sour grapes?

Yamaha TOTAL domination not quite there yet?
<

Wow. Maybe Honda should have kept Emperor Puig in the driver's seat. The combined times make them look really awful. Dovi is the bright spot in 3rd. RDP is 8th. The other 4 bikes are languishing at the bottom of the sheets.

Simoncelli should have signed the Aprilia contract for WSBK.

Day two test thoughts...

YAMAHA

Fiat Yamaha
Rossi
"My M1 feels great and I'm looking forward to racing!"
Jorge
"Our bike is great, Yamaha have done a fantastic job"

Monster Tech 3
Collie
"We've got some work to do because I just didn't feel as comfortable on the bike as I did last year, mainly with the front-end."
Ben
"“I didn't have a great night really but that can happen. Everything that could go wrong went wrong tonight."

Hmmm... Are the factory and satellite really as close in specs as we previously believed, or are the Tech 3 techs just that much worse at getting the set-up right?

REPSOL HONDA
Dani
"...of course I’m not satisfied with the results of this test. It’s obvious that we’re not where we want to be as we approach the first race... That’s it really. I’m still struggling with the bike moving quite a lot at the front and that’s caused by issues at rear. Because of this I’m also going too slowly through the corners."

Man, is Pedder's side of the garage this incompetent? Shows how much of "alien" riding status is really dictated by the machinery IMHO...

PREMAC DUCATI
Kallio
"What an unusual thing happen: I remained without fuel at the very end of the session while I was going to the box; I was on the side of the track with my bike looking for someone to help me move the bike, instead I realized to be lonely in the desert. Luckily after some minutes the track assistants have arrived. Jokes apart, today we managed to improve, even not as much as we expected, the lap times recorded last year during the Grand Prix of Qatar qualification session. This means that we can be satisfied with the work done during these last days of winter testing. The team has worked well and thanks to my technicians we found a good set up of the bike that we will be using in the first GP of the season here in Doha."

Espargaro
"Yesterday night I haven't slept very well. I wasn't happy at all with lap times that I had registered yesterday. Today, however, I am pretty satisfied with how things went for me. On the contrary compared to the last Sepang test, we managed to constantly improve and this give us great confidence for the race that will be held here in Qatar in three weeks time. We have worked very well and for this I want to thanks all my technical staff."

WTF??? Were these guys drunk when they drafted the press release? I definitely want a hit on their bong!!!

You talk out of your ... don't you bugsbunny, where and when did i said that CS can't go faster than Rossi on next day in test. I always said that to me it looks like that both Ducati and Yamaha are very evenly matched bikes this season and it clearly shows in the testing so far where CS stoner is right behind Rossi on time sheets and infact beat Rossi's time last night.

By the way bugsbuuny why are you not doing your little deep analysis now and asking question about Stoner tyre's, aha.... double standards.

Stoner did a race simulation on Thursday, & Rossi on Friday. There seems to be nothing in it, which is refreshing & exciting

You're safe from mandatory Dani cheering.
<
It looks like Frida had a lot of European blood in her.

Her father, Guillermo Kahlo (1871-1941), was born Carl Wilhelm Kahlo in Pforzheim, Germany ....  Frida's mother, Matilde Calderón y Gonzalez, was a devout Catholic of primarily indigenous as well as Spanish descent.
