Lorenzo was a guest on stage Thursday with the legendary Giacomo Agostini at the Yamaha booth at the EICMA motorcycle exhibition in Milan. He was asked how much longer he would race, probably in light of Casey Stoner's stunning retirement after this season at age 27.

"I'll take two more years, and then we'll see," Lorenzo said. "At age 15, it's all very funny, but then this bag becomes routine. The death of Marco Simoncelli, it was a blow to all, made us think that it could happen to us, but we know that the risk is part of the sport."

Lorenzo will be 27 at the end of the 2014 season - the same age as Stoner when he retired. Is 27 the new 37 for young men who have spent most of their life in leathers and racetrack paddocks?

Well, first of all, welcome back Pov. That election result must still be stinging. Have you been buying up farmland and guns like Glenn Beck has suggested?
<

Lorenzo is a candid person who has matured since the lower categories. I would venture to say that having VR as his new teammate perhaps have got him reflecting on the machinate of the series, and maybe has thought, is it really worth risking his life for what amounts to ......... I'm just projecting here. Its my bias first thoughts on JLo's statement, nothing more, nothing less.

Nah, been hiking the Kenai Peninsula for the last 2 1/2 weeks. Thinking about moving there. Out of reach to the beggar society.

Please take the rest of the South with you. Then secede. We will build that big fence you guys been crying about.

Sounds like a fun trip. Anyway, why you think JLo might be contemplating retiring? Any conspiracy theory you might want to offer?

He could be contemplating retirement, but he could also be playing the Rossi-game.

Rossi has also floated retirement for years, citing lack of interest and desire to find a new challenge. It turns out, he was just shaking down Dorna. Rumors suggest Michael Schumacher was paid a decent sum of money to sit at home rather than taking his star power to another series.

It was amazing. Scenery that you cant describe. Pictures dont do it justice. I have some really good pics, cant get the sight to take them.

No, not really. I think these guys have gotten numerous wake up calls in the last couple of years as to the reality of their situation. Stoner has shown them that you can walk away with your health and 20-30 million in the bank. That gig may not be looking to bad to the ones who can do it monetarily and mentally..Use the sport thats using you. Of course there will always be the ones who hang on forever because they are so mentally week, life without admiration is a fate worse than death.

& The racist purist now agrees with retiring early?!

Translation: Lorenzo will try his best to push Rossi into retirement within two years maximum.

They are getting paid too much money. That's why retirement looks attractive.

Keep 'em lean and mean, I say

Yep.

Lot's of things adding up for some of these guys.

Marco's death was a big factor in Stoner going imo. I think Jorge is thinking the same & has said so.

Stoner walking away will have a of the successful ones thinking about doing the same.

Also the grind of it from a young age. The politics, media & bullsh!t and much much worse now than 5-10years ago.

I can't stand the meetings I have for work...imagine what these guys go through.

If this is a ploy to get more money I am going to live in a cave.

I hope he's just thinking out loud.

It would be cool to have enough money to retire at 27, whilst money doesn't buy happiness it buys you a big ............ yacht that allows you to sail right up to it with.

[How dare you bespoil David Lee Roth's philosophical musings with the inclusion of the suggestion that one copulates with one's mater.]

Maybe now they're entertainers, they're trying to avoid the Hendrix/Cobain/Winehouse/joplin club....but can't add too good.

I can't see Lorenzo retiring at 27. He is a smart guy with his head screwed on. But he also seems to get an immense buzz from winning and all that comes with it. Plus, he is pretty popular amongst most fans - quite different to Stoner. Stoner wasn't gettin'' a lotta love from non- Australians, which must have played some part in his decision for leaving. Lorenzo seems to have plenty of time on his side and no reason to leave anytime soon, I would think.

Depends whether Rossi whoops him or not

Racers need motivation, and if say Lorenzo dominated the next 2 years then he might not have motivation to continue.

What? If anything, they don't get paid enough. They are usually ...... if they go down. They deserve more money, even than say F1 drivers. Besides, I thought you were the one with a kid racing cars.......if it is so, this could be proof your full of it.

Set something up in Lounge. Would like to see some of those pics.

See retiring at 27 with plenty of money in the bank sounds great I am sure, but at that age surely you're soon going to get bored. Hell Michael Schumacher is a prime example, he thought he'd had enough, he had nothing left to prove, he'd made more money than he can probably spend in a life time etc. but it was the racing he missed so sorely which is why he came back. I'm not saying Casey Stoner will do that, but he might, and then Lorenzo and all the others might feel differently too.

I agree. I also think that Lorenzo has more passion for the sport that stoner ever had. Idk, I dont think lorenzo will pull a casey and leave really early. But, I dont think he will be racing past his 30s

Nup.

Not a fan of his music. I didn't believe a mate when he told me DLR had become a EMT... and Mr Google popped up the quotes...

DLR does seem to have his head screwed on correctly.
