So we are splitting predictions with practice qual now? Ok

Did anybody see the press conference? Some good stuff. Everybody interested peeps opinions about ".......".

Edwards is a sound bite machine, but I think Lorenzo had the best quip of the conference, "It must feel a shame to be beaten by kids every race." ouch.

(btw, can somebody tell me who the ........ sounded guy is who asked Lorenzo and Dani a question about chassis? Can somebody ban that .... from asking questions?)

"I think Lorenzo had the best quip of the conference, "It must feel a shame to be beaten by kids every race."

Yeah - pity he's not a kid anymore himself. Kid does sort of imply like under 21 and I don't see any "kids" up on the podium.

My bet is still on Stoner for 2011

And I'll bet there will be a 2011 race where Rossi beats Lollo

Bit more context, stolen from Crash.net:

...

24-year-old reigning world champion and 2011 points leader Lorenzo, one of the main targets of Rossi's words, was later asked for his response.

After being told that the phrase, in polite terms, meant some young MotoGP riders were behaving like 'kids', Lorenzo - in a presumed dig at Rossi - replied:

“I don't know. I guess it must be a little shame to be beaten by 'kids'. Every race...”

Still a way to go to beat Pedro's best lap of 2008 at 1.32.647 - let's see what QP brings

Cant see it happening, the 2008 times were with Q's.Most pole records have been safe the last couple of years.

All those clever words, yet cannot win on Stoner's bike that couldn't lose, beaten again by his former team mate who profited from all his development work and quoting JB (who always supports his rider) on a bike that has reached the end of it's development potential.

Valentino must be feeling the pressure.

Team mate with the first guy who broke his championship run.

In a war of words with the second guy.

Now on the second guys bike and not doing so well.

The third guy was on the same team as him.

There is a fourth guy waiting in the wings, silently awaiting his opportunity to put the #26 bike at the championship winning table.

So there is more than one rider responding to his quips and they are all doing him on track at the moment.

He must wish this was world series debating right now

Honda's are in a league of their own here.

Hayden p4 at qp2, is a well done job, especially in front of Lorenzo and Rossi.

Simoncelli, not bad ieder, but Stoner is far ahead at this moment, and Pedrosa seems to have more pain in this track than Estoril.

Dovi again reminded me that he still is in motogp.

I saw a lot of guys on what I have been led to believe was the new soft, triple compound Bridgestone. Does anyone know if they get any softer?

Heard Nick might have gotten a tow from Dovi on that quick lap? Anyone confirm this?

Nicky in P4 after Q2?
<
I want to get excited, but he hasn't figured out how to make the fuel computer work so I'm going to take a wait and see approach.

I hope Spies goes back to WSBK. He is one of the best superbikers of all time, and he should make his mark instead of withering away in the fuel-limited MotoGP paddock. Yamaha can hire Simoncelli.
<
Lorenzo and Simoncelli on the same team will be quite amusing.

I was watching. He was on a PB the lap prior through the first two sectors and made a mistake in the third sector and let Dovi by. He gave him considerable space as well by the time they came to the final double right leading onto the straight. He had closed the gap considerably by the time the lap was finished, but I don't think it was enough to get a tow.

L8, I am assuming you're also wondering where Nicky's time came from? That's why I'm asking if there's anything softer than the new soft. I've asked Matt Birt if Nicky had something softer in to get the time but haven't heard yet. It's especially odd considering Rossi was really unhappy with the turn-in and the handling of the bike today. Seems strange that Nicky managed to find a bunch of time, but Rossi couldn't. And an improvement of nine-tenths from FP1 to FP2 is a big jump. The signs point to a soft tire, but that's not his style and I'm not sure there's anything softer than that new tire, which everyone is on.

The new tyre is Bridgestone's first soft asymmetric offering, and combines soft compound rubber in the right shoulder with an extra-soft compound in the left side. Le Mans has nine right-hand turns, but only five left-hand corners.

A medium asymmetric rear will also be available, together with soft and medium front-tyre compounds.

I cant imagine Rossi would have wasted the whole day without giving the new tire a try if everyone was going fast on it

I am quickly become a Simoncelli fan, i may not agree with everything he does and i know his approach to racing has some flaws but i just cannot fail to be entertained when he's going quickly. He is spectacular. Honda look good this weekend, my money is on Stoner to make the weekend his own, and we might see the HRC plan going well if a few people get between him and Lorenzo and help Casey claw back those points. I hope Ben Spies can get his act together soon, so far his move to the factory team has yeilded no improvement at all.

Yea, I'm wondering where the significant improvement came from, I suspected a tow but not the tires because we didnt' see the same jump by Rossi. Valentino said he found something regarding the swingarm late in FP2 but didn't have time to exploit to it's fullest. It would seem that Nick hit the proper setup quicker than Rossi today. I'm sure Rossi will show better tomorrow.

With all this, I still feel Lorenzo will be very hard to beat at LeMans this weekend.

Here's hoping his troubles are more crew related than talent related. He's suffered a spate of issues that were not his fault.

Even if he doesn't set the world on fire - there's always 2011 with the big-boy bikes. Got the fingers crossed.

Haystack has never had a podium here
<
a big hurdle to over come to do it this year

You're right, this did used to be a Yamaha circuit, and Max used to love it on the old YZR500. The trraditionally different characteristics between manufacturers are being redefined. I still believe that the Yam is the most nimble bike out there though.

Has the weather predictions for raceday changed at all??

Hayden!!!

They are turning Spies bike into a Ducati. Top speed yet nowhere on the time sheets. I have never seen Spies so lost.

From GPOne...Rossi never got to the soft tire....hence the difference in his and Nick's time. Still hope Nicky can find more for qualifying and the race. Rain predicted for qualifying tomorrow.

At the time of qualifying, it is around 30% chance, and 20% for race time on Sunday. In other words, they dont have a clue, and its 50/50
