Good race. I hoped Bradl would hold on, but Marquez was too strong over race distance. Unfortunately, Bradl's second place accomplishment was marred by another overwrought brokeback celebration between Helmut and Lucio.
After watching the footage, which provided an opportunity to observe one of the factory-supported satellite Hondas, the line of demarcation between factory and satellite seems more clear. In the past, satellite bikes were often separated from factory equipment by virtue of their outdated or cost-controlled components. Those days yielded to an era of alleged electronic handicapping. Today, it seems the differences are caused by advanced fuel mapping.
The factory team has advanced simulation. They can determine the best places to burn fuel and the best places to run lean. During practice sessions the factory teams and riders can make adjustments and run additional simulations. The satellite teams do not seem to have this capability. Though Bradl has access to "factory support", which could mean the optimized GPS fuel mapping, I wonder how sophisticated LCR's adjustments may be, since they do not have an HRC server farm to run data.
The RC is supposedly runs a stop-and-go line, which implies sensitivity to fuel mapping. Bradl's run at the front, and this attempts to flee from Marquez, provided an interesting view, imo. The Yamahas seem to be more similar with their cornerspeed line.
