Secondly I'm intrigued what is exactly meant by a couch hound?

Thank you

An example of a "couch hound" would be,

Someone who does not venture out his front door for fear of traffic. Gaining their whole life experience and knowledge via TV and Google. i.e Barrymachine. Also my bet is he has no "real life" friends, we are the closest he has to friends and more than likely the only human contact he has, hence his fetish.

Why is jum wearing a coat, in training for the uk?

lol they were some cold nights lemme tell ya, and that fog in the morning was no joke.. as for his eyes.. i think everyone in that campsite had their fair share.. i was stumbling back to my campsite hoping i didnt get attacked by a mountain lion lol

It was fairly cold at night I have to say. I wasn't expecting that kind of chill! I only took a few pics although I haven't the slightest idea how to upload them here. I'll work on it.

So your 'backing it in' theory, is this on dirt or tarmac? Because to engage rear wheel slip with no application of brake or downshifting would primarily require a high engine compression to induce engine breaking to the rear wheels. This may be possibly on a dirt bike on a loose surface but not on a roadbike, and especially not a MGP bike with slipper clutches designed to do exactly the opposite.

Rebuttal? Didn't think so

This guy is well known to have come from dirt and used the same technique on tarmac.

Roberts was riding the 500 in a way no one had quite seen before. Whereas, Baker had adapted to the long-corner European 250 style that the Dunlop tires flattered, the Yamaha's fierce power delivery applied to the Goodyear rear allowed Roberts to ride lines never attempted before on European roadracing tracks. Sacrificing corner speed, he squared it off, backed it in, and fired it out. A two-time Grand National dirt track champion, there was method to Roberts' apparent madness. He sometimes treated the asphalt like dirt.

That looks more relevant to powerslides than backing it in though...

Just noticed your question.

Heading for a corner and the arse end is in the air and out sideways .......... so by your method the back brake/ downshifting is working in air? Even when the arse end is light ...... a sneeze will get it out ...... matter of fact you are fighting to keep it in ...

And what gets the back end light? Using the front brake. I agree that once the back is light its easier to slide it...but thats AFTER using a front brake. If you had a bike with no brakes and only one gear you could still get the back out by your argument. I disagree. Making the rear light enough is all about weight transfer to the front, and by the mechanisms of moments of inertia that can only be done with braking forward of the centreline and COG of the bike....i.e. FRONT brake.

Congratulations Barrymachine.

You came into a thread in the social part of the forum where members talk and share memory's about the great times they have had. You are one of the least social members in powerslide and have no interest in attending races or meeting fellow members. Instead you chose to spoil a social thread with your inane ..... thus turning the focus towards your sad sorry ass.

This imo is an all time low, even for you.

You sir are pond life !

I apologise Rog, I contributed to it so I will stop debating with said pond life now.

So, pics from Silverstone, and stories please!! Jum Still owes me a beer...

I got pics to post but at present I am conducting a UK tour with Jum. Currently enjoying the insightful company of Chops and Bonnielass.

Curry and beer to commence very shortly

No need to apologise to me mate, BM is the master at sucking people into his off topic inane , going nowhere debates and this was not my thread. People tend to use these social threads as a holiday diary and like to look back at them months or even years later to reminisce. BM posting in these threads is like an un-welcome visitor gate crashing the party just to cause upset. Had he of come into the thread to enjoy the others pictures and storys i would not have issue, but we all know to well his intent.

Any way hopefully we will get back to the pics and storys about the race weekend and the fun times fellow powersliders had together.
