Laguna Seca 2012 - Advice for some first timers!

Hi Guys,

My boyfriend and I are coming all the way from New Zealand to check out Laguna Seca in 2012. I'm just about to buy some tickets before the prices go up and I wanted to get some advice on the best spots are to watch the race from people who have been there and done that!

We are going to get a "Cruising Pass", which does guarantee a grandstand seat at either turn 4 or 11. Which one do you reckon we choose - 4 or 11?

Obviously we're not going to spend all our time in the grandstand ... anyone got any insider tips on where the best view for the corkscrew is?

So to summarise .. any tips, advice, insider knowledge etc etc would be greatly appreciated!

Thank for your help guys ... roll on July!!!

Cheers,

Caro from NZ

Contact Gresini tour and travel. They have a cruising package which allows select spectators cruise around the track during the race. The only problem is the tour ends before the end of the race and you will miss the finish

Thanks for the info, but we're looking to do this trip ourselves and not use a tour company

Basically we're looking to find out where the best places to view along the track are, stuff like that

Where's the 'straight over the head' emoticon.

Turn five and outfield Raineys - both for many reasons, but it's a small circuit - and a real spectators circuit too. I highly recommend 'Jumkies Rock' for the race...just be wary of any invites to a post race grind.

I guess I miss some motor GP joke there .... I told you guys I was a newbie ....

Thanks Arrabbiata 1, that's really helpful and I really appreciate it

If you are coming over for this trip, you will be disappointed as Laguna Seca only has the motogp class with AMA to fill in the rest of the schedule.

I'd say bump your trip 2 weeks and go to Indianapolis. (and then I can hook you up with VIP hospitality)

Outfield standing by turn 1. Watch them down the straight into turn 1 then onto the Andretti hairpin. Pretty awesome too.

One of the other best viewing places was standing 3 feet from the front of the Ducati stage with Jumkie watching a load of very scantilly clad women prance around in small Ducati ......'s...Highly recommended

I also agree with Arrab...Be wary of an invite to Jumkie's after race party. I still wonder how that actually happened
